I ever used 2 and 4 for salad. so where are you from?
I meant tongs for serving salad.

Does it matter much exactly what it is?
ZylonBane on 29/10/2010 at 16:47
Applying the "Does it matter?" metric would wipe out 99% of the internet. Relax, it's supposed to be fun. Go browse the Bed Bath & Beyond site.
But yes, it does matter. To make high-res version of those objects, it would be extremely helpful to have something real-world to model them off of, instead of being forced to invent detail.

Exactly "Relax, it's supposed to be fun"
There's enough shapes and information in there to make a 2x version, and chances are you'll never ever find out what that artist back then was thinking of when he made some of them.
human brain is great at filling in blanks.

Then why did you ask?

I guess he meant don't stress out over the specific model and serial number, and go with what you've got... ?
BTW on a semi-related note, did you ever find what the last paintings were?

Eldron must hate Pictionary.
Nae, never found a satisfactory match. I've pretty much settled on Nude Descending a Staircase as an acceptable substitute.

Exactly, spending hours trying to figure something out that probably might not be outfigurable when you can spend time being an artist instead.
And yes, it pretty much is all about being an artist if you want to create an improvement on a texture, technicalities takes very small space in that scenario.
Possibly also the reason why the stim units and paintings are stuck in limbo :P

The problem with projects like SHTUP has always been finding artists who can exert just enough creativity to flesh out a low-res item, but not so much creativity that it isn't recognizably the same thing anymore. Or artists at all, really. For all its critical acclaim, the popularity of SS2 is an insignificant blip next to Doom, Quake, Half-Life, etc.
But that's tangential to the fact that the main purpose of this thread was to have a fun guessing game. Some people like figuring things out, y'know?
