I'm keeping my own opinion out of the translation/summary and I'll also leave out the obvious (it's a stealth-game!). but I try to convey the guys' speaking opinions (so whatever tense I write in, its one of them saying it).
- Playing in a hub-area of the City that offers various side quests, like Dishonored.
- Gameplay-wise it looks like Mirror's Edge but is way less flexible. Can't climb anywhere you want, but once you learned where/how you realize it's more like a climb/jump-puzzle.
- Were playing with a controller
- There is a free-running button (Left-Shoulder-Button) (context-sensitive jumping). It didnt work that well in the played version. Sometimes you dont understand where you can climb and where not. Then you fall down. It's not perfect but there should be enough time till Feb 2014.
- the Stealth-element is cooler (than free-running). It's real simple how light/dark is illustrated (referring to the light-gem).
- swoop with A.
- I was worried at first because trailers showed the game being very-action-oriented, but stealth is a central element.
- You can use focus (like hitman instinct) to fight or see items, but it'S mainly about tricking, circumventing or knocking out guards from the shadows.
- The wire cutter can open new areas (like zelda)
-combat is easy with focus but focus and life are limited so it's best to spend focus to look inside locks when picking them.
- focus doesnt regenrate automaticall. you have to use potions. this feels really oldschool and makes it more tense.
---- something i picked up from the text:
There is a Quest-Journal. you can activate it to show the position of the quest(?) loot.
can also show it on the minimap.

No this is new.
Shows some shop items and upgrades.
The Tiger Woman painting is kinda odd, does one of the devs have a furry fetish?

Those button-prompts floating over objects seem jarring. Hopefully there's an option to turn them off and just have the highlight-effect. It's the same button every time anyway.
Looks cool besides that. I like the look of the world, and I like all the tools Garrett has that gets used contextually.

Stealth and sound seem so secondary to action. It bothers me. A lot.

Yes...That's because there can't possibly be true THIEF gameplay without a sufficiently continual "move silently challenge", that simultaneously synergizes with the "hiding challenge"...thus producing the true THIEF stealth challenge...Without this, NuThief objectively disqualifies itself as a true THIEF game, as a severely dominant "hiding challenge" will not produce the desired experience.

In this new game you can hide and move silently, whereas quick and noisy movements in the vicinity of an AI let you become discovered. It's not like swoop enables easy-peasy shadow hopping.

Yet, both crouching and the Swoop Superpower are silent, and therefore the "move silently challenge" is easily minimized, if not defeated completely.

They say they played it with a medium spec'ed pc but with XBox controller, keyboard and mouse isn't ready yet.
They say all that helpsters can be turned off, also focus can be turned off.
Only some houses of the "City" can be entered (as in all titles before).
They say it feels "oldschool" and patience is a central element in the game (like the old ones). Inside the city you will found small "missions" if you find some letters etc. Even with focus-fight they had no chance against two guards, when they get caught.
Savepoints, no free saving (??? Not sure, they just mention savepoints but don't talk about free saving).
