Scots_Taffer, that is very funny.
I love this place when I've had a bad day and need to laugh.
...thanks....

You know what really pisses me off? Referring to the original--the real--films as "Episodes 4, 5, and 6". The recent abominations make me want to puke and have no right to be numbered anything but Shit #1, Shit #2 and Shit #3. As far as I'm concerned, Star Wars is film #1, The Empire Strikes Back is film #2, and Return of the Jedi is film #3 and there are no more. Hasn't fuckwit grasped the concept of non-sequential chronologies? Oh, but I forget: Lucas can't actually write any better than he can direct and understands plot and character structures about as well as he understands astrophysics.

But 'blue, they're even titled Episode IV: A New Hope etc. Always have been.
I feel your frustration though, I really do.

True, after the very first screening, anyway.

No, Episode IV was known simply as Star Wars until it was re-released in 1980 - after Empire came out - when A New Hope was added.

Yeah, as Moi points out above, that's not actually true. Lucas added the Episode IV as a postscript after the original '79 release was so fucking epic that they decided there was a phenomenal amount of moneyhats to be made and worn. Hence, Episode IV.
You're aware that the original was planned as a standalone, with a last minute script revision allowing Vader to live as a marketing plan?
ignatios on 17/5/2006 at 12:41
I wasn't aware of either of those things.
OH MY CHILDHOOD IS ALL A LIE
I had always grown up with Episode IV - A New Hope. I actually remember once asking my parents about that because I found it strange, but they just shrugged and said that's the way it was.
