See..I really don't know. I mean, sure you could argue about principles and shit, but this is the real world, not some magical land where you get paragon points for being super law abiding person, no matter how dickish. I tend toward the attitude of "will this actually improve anything?" and I can't see that forcing someone highly competent at their post to resign because they skimmed the country out of less money than they would've been able to claim LEGITIMATELY, all because they didn't want to admit they were gay...really helps anyone. He says sorry, he admits it was skimming, but POINTS OUT THAT IT SAVED EVERYONE MONEY, he gets on with his job, everyone wins. This way it's basically a net loss for everyone.
I think I'm just learning to really, really loathe basic human nature. It's massively massively retarded.

I understand that economically it's better for him to be a skimmer. But that's the thin end of the wedge, no?

No, no I don't think so. I think the whole concept of there even being a wedge, that must be upheld at all times, even if it costs us, is a stupid, stupid, ultimately self-destructive conceit. Surely we can grow out of this by now? We're not a world of fucking batman clones. There are no LINES WE MUST NEVAR CROSS. This is reality. We simply have to try and make the best of each any every situation in a manner that most benefits everyone. That we're largely incapable of doing so is just depressing.
Roll on the helios ending, I say..
