Anyone know how far away from the polling station a political party can have its fliers and representatives? One of them always stands right at the gate to the polling station in my constituency and it pisses me off every time.

I think they're allowed where they like so long as they're not actually inside the polling station. Stuff like you describe is one reason why I have a postal vote despite being around on election days.

I only just managed to resist the urge to vote for the Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality.

I think they're missing a trick by not allowing topless women in the polling stations.
Booth Babes, we were advocating this idea at work.
Sadly, I had to make do with two old geezers in a primary school. They were however, very polite. And very adept at locating my name with a simple system of stapled paper, a ruler and some mumbling.

Now I've got a horrible mental image of two topless old men taking down your details. Cheers.
Been to vote this evening as well. Definitely a higher turnout than in the last couple of elections in what is normally a fairly apathetic area. Not sure whether it's possible to read anything into that other than perhaps there's a general view that things aren't as clear-cut about the result as normal.
