on this, we agree. the only two worthwhile newspaper comics are dilbert and garfield.
Scots: this is the sound of your Best Man talking.
Dilbert started out strong and pleasantly absurd but quickly devolved into cubicle funnies. I suppose it more or less hits that spot well but it's like telling OS jokes: no matter how funny it all is the fact remains that it has come to this.

Hey,
I didn't give him his taste in comics!
Sheesh.
Anyway, I have a lot of love for Dilbert after having worked in offices that more or less resembled the environment but as many have said, it became a depressingly repetitive three-panel circus after a while.
Calvin and Hobbes too, another excellent comic. I've only ever read them in compendium format though, so I can't say if they ever trailed off in terms of quality.
Webcomics are interesting - they play off a completely new arena: the internet meme. So many jokes to be found on webcomics are exclusive to the internet - it gets even more specific than that with gamer-specific comics.
Penny Arcade had a good run, but it's devolved into random craziness. However you still get the occasional (
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/02/03) comedy gold.
I enjoy Ctrl-Alt-Del although I do think that it too peaked around last year and is now trailing into randomness - although the upcoming animation sounds interesting.
My favourite webcomic that had a solidly brilliant run but devolved into tripe at the end due to the writer having some difficulties before he SHUT IT DOWN, was (
http://www.meninhats.com/d/20020805.html) Men in Hats.
And these Garfield things are old news.

I loved Calvin and Hobbes. Then it was pulled from our newspaper..... :(

I don't read it regularly, but I do enjoy Ctrl-Alt-Del. Especially the Thief themed comics. :thumb:

The fact that Watterson decided to stop drawing the strip might have had something to do with that.

What are people's thoughts on the (

I still think it's the funniest webcomic (though it's printed in the Guardian now) I've yet seen.
