My laptop died at the weekend having apparently overheated whilst playing Skyrim. It's about four years old, and had been ok until then. It appears to be terminal as it's the video card which is integral to the motherboard and therefore effectively unfixable.
So I'm looking for another one. I'd rather keep it cheap, but that doesn't appear to be an option. May be able to swing it with Mrs madwolf if I can argue that the next one is less likely to overheat and fritz on me.
I've checked Overclockers UK who generally get all my PC money, but they are beyond my reach at the moment.
Anyhoo, I've seen this:

Which ain't cheap, but I'm just trying to get a feel of what's available, good value, and likely to last.
And it needs to run Skyrim. Preferably better than the wading through porridge specs than I'm used to. The Witcher 2 would be a bonus.
Any comments or alternative suggestions ?
Oh and the reason I'm looking at laptops is that I'm generally away most weekends.
Cheers!

Do you really need a gaming lappy. I've never thought them very good if AAA PC gaming is what you're after, either from the point of view of being gaming things or laptops. You compromise everything.
Obviously that doesn't stop me - I can't stand desktops, haven't used one for years - but I don't game that much and there's no pretending it's ideal when I do.
Whereas a small dektop build (Or even a console) will game all day. Eurogamer had an article with a pretty meaty DIY PC box for £300. Maybe that even gets you enough change to get a lappy that works well as a portable device.
Also, second hand.
oh, you're away most weekends. Ignore.
