Holy fvck! What a punkish, rebellious teenager look! I bet he's going to have some lousy voice-acting like Tidus from FFX.
I preferr if they made the main character look older and more... how do you say... mature?

I'm glad that the levels won't be as big. I'd rather levels be smaller and more focussed on tighter mission design and detail to give it life and having more gameplay challenges, than huge sparse levels like some of them in DX1.
Punk-ish is what I thought when I saw the screenshot of the main character. "Punk band" went into my head when I saw that. It still looks like Deus Ex though.

Sure, there's a reason they call it "cyberpunk". He looks like how I imagine the Hacker might look after taking way too many sight and berserk patches.
Heh, I'll bet you could pop a balloon on his hair.:cheeky:
And there's nothing wrong with the sunglasses and trench coat look either! I liked that "Neo" look on JC, and it went perfectly with the high-flying stunts you could perform using the Speed Enhancement Aug.

Crickey! Some of you sure seem superficial.

Alex certainly looks more like some smart-ass punk kid, rather than some badass agent

Smart ass punk kid? You got all that from his hair? It's obviously not his standard-issue agent-outfit(I'm guessing here), weaponry or pink eyes so you have to be talking about his hair. I think it looks cool, and fitting concidering his age. Ok, sure, that's not what his hair looks like when he gets up in the morning, he's a bit vain, so what? So was JC. Remember when Navare said he just wore the trenchcoat so he'd look big?
And whats up with all the anxious voices Im hearing about the gameplay being compromised by the graphics/flashy huds? Dont forget who's making this game.

Stainboy. bah jumpsuits are just as much a 'coolness' cliche as trenchcoats.
anyway the trenchcoat served a purpose in the first one, except for so of the rediculously large items you could assume all JC's stuff was stashed under there. You could reasonably belive he was keeping a pile of soy food and a couple compact weapons under there. :D

This gets me onto something ive been thinking about for a while.
I think it would be cool to have people in a game treat you differently depending on what you are carrying. It presents some ease of play problems but i think it would be kinda cool to have to stash your sniper rifle and Gep gun somewere before going into a reastaraunt or something to avoid freaking people out. Or military types would respect you if you went obviously armed, but get pushy if they thought you were harmless.
But alas i doudt this will come to pass, for DX:2 i heard a while ago that they had removed the fear reaction of civilians who don't know when you wander around with a gun in your hand. If they arnt gona freak out if you run up to them with a pistol in your hand they arnt going to worry if you quitely walk around with a LAW straped to your back. :(

just actualy read the article...

The three E3 levels represent just a small portion of the game, which is broken up into 36 levels. Ion Storm has said that Invisible War won't be as long as the rather drawn-out first game, but while the new levels won't be quite as large, they're said to be much more densely populated with mission challenges and characters to interact with. Since the levels will be smaller, you won't be required to hike from one side of town to the other, which should keep the game's pacing somewhat more constant.
for some reason this, along with the slightly startling look of Alex is making me a little nervous...
ummm...Was the first one 'drawn out' it had about 30 hours playtime for me (not counting reloads) frankly if i get much less from a game i feel slightly gyped.
and who in their right mind wants physicaly small levels?

Amount of gameplay and Physcial size do not necesarily go hand in hand.
I think what ISA is trying to do is make the game length pretty much up to the player. They've said around 20 hours, if you just do the main plot. They've also said that if you do the side quests and so forth you could go up to approx 65 hours, I believe.
And there are parts of Deus Ex where it did take you a boring minute or so to transverse levels. I know I got pretty sick of parts of New York ...

They'd really have to do their best to fuck up Deus Ex 2. Even if it's as good as the first one, I'll be stuck with the game for months. But sequels in general have a bad reputation and for a reason: AvP 2, MotS (Ok, it's expansion pack), JK 2, some would say Thief 2 (not me, though) etc. All too often the designers try make something completely new and 'interesting' and 'cool' and only succeed in screwing up a perfectly good franchise. New HUD, looks of Alex and somewhat new idea for the game atmosphere makes me a tad nervous: are they trying to appeal to larger audience (= brats) thus making unwanted compromises. But, as noted, Eidos have my confidence rating of 9/10 for delivering a pretty darn great stuff. Still...
And who're you to call people superficial? Did you read your own post?

I didn't make any statements on anyones personality based on their apperance. Unless you mean the part where I wrote "some of you sure seem superficial", but that wasn't making assumptions, you were, in fact, being superficial.
And "Dont forget who's making this game" wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at the people who think for one minute, that Ion is gonna do something stupid like implenting a flashy hud that compromises the gameplay.

And "Dont forget who's making this game" wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at the people who think for one minute, that Ion is gonna do something stupid like implenting a flashy hud that compromises the gameplay. According your post 'title', people expressing expectations of the game based on Alex's looks are superficials, to a certain extent at least, while you fall for the same 'trap', if in different way though:) And no, in real life I don't judge books by their covers either , but we're talking about games here and then little things like skins and other graphic devices mean a whole lot more. They're one sort of testimonies what the designers have in mind considering the whole package. That's my only concern here.
For the latter part, we're basically in agreement with the subject. As I mentioned, Ion has my total confidence for doing the right thing, but as I mentioned above and in previous post, the gamespot's interview and the screenies let you make assumptions what's to come. Again, I DON'T believe they'll mess up DX 2, not by a long shot; only gripe is about these eye-candy stuff and what they might mean considering the whole game. I just don't have any blind faith for one direction or on another. Anyway. things like these can be changed with modding, so no reason for make too rush decisions.
As for now, I suggest we close this topic and return back to the original; especially since there aren't any major differences in our opinions. Feel free to reply, of course, but then let's call it a day.
