About that review I can't believe that reviewers think that Arx graphics are 'good but maybe not top of the notch graphics' and Morrowind's ones are 'sooo great' . Bah, MW ones are repetitive and too 'perfect' and symetric. Arx ones are totally irregular, any other game has offered such perfect dungeon claustrophobic sense. To me Arx graphics are the best ever in an RPG, MW ones are good to look at but do not have any 'feeling'.
Bye.- ;)

I agree Ark. From what I've seen in the demo, Arx has great graphics really and a distinctive style of its own.

I haven't played Morrowind much yet, but I already finished Arx Fatalis and I totally agree. Arx definitly got the better feeling. It's like reality while Morrowind is more like a dark, dull dream.
Arx' leveldesign is top notch. Everything makes sense and there are so many details: stairs that are worn down in the middle, damaged dungeon walls, ceilings and floors (modelled in 3D of course), lots of debris and so on. I also love the detailed and bump mapped textures as well as the characters. They are well textured and animated (the characters in Morrowind walk quiet unrealistic, IMHO).
And last but not least the spells: "Raise Undead" looks just great: (

as well as aura-spells: (

Another cool detail: monsters capable of magic also use the rune-based system. So if a Lich wants to cast a spell on you he actually draws the runes in the air like you have to do it.

And if you cast "fire" on a Lich, he will cast a spell to put it out ;)

Isn't the game a little short or did you play 24 hours a day?
How long did it take to finish it?
Did you go straight to the end or did you take the time to search for secrets?

@xman:
I bought the game on the day it came out in Germany which was the end of June. So it's about 3 weeks ago. And yes I played it whenever I had some spare time, cause it's so fantastic. It took me about 1 week playing an average of 7-8 hours each day. So the absolute time for finishing the game was about 60h, including loading times and replaying some sections. I took quiet a lot of time to explore the game though I didn't find everything. There are still some things left to clear up (for example the treaure hunt, or waht happens if I kill everybody *eg*), so I'm still having fun with Arx.
I wouldn't say it's a short game, you simply "waste" too much time on it ;)

But yes, I tried it of course. Unfortunately the key to the back entrance of the bank only works if you haven't put Gary's key on the key-ring which I did. Seems to be one of the many small bugs. They'll hopefully be fixed for the international release...
*More Spoilers!!!*
One thing I haven't found out yet was the key-impression in the back room in the house of Gary's girlfriend. I already used Greu's piece of clay with it and got an imprint of it. But I can't find a way to make a key from it. Already tried the dwarfen smithery. I also don't know where to use this key, if I ever should get it.
Another thing I (and everybody else on the JoWood-board) is stuck with is the treasure hunt. We do have all five hints by now but can't figure out, what they try to tell us :P. We're not sure, where to find it and how to open it. The descriptions are quiet inaccurate...

I missed the impression, but I *KNEW* the clay is for something ;)
Cheers!
