(King Ronald is so stunned that all 800 alpha class gold robots psychically linked to him for control shut down, creating a huge breach in Palace defenses.)
You.......you.....WEIRDO!
How the hell can you vote "no" to dual pistols??????
They are the coolest, the most stylish, action packed, Hong-Kong cinema driven weapon ever used!
Take Max Payne, for example - every moment of gameplay was pure orgasmic heaven with those twin Berettas. Every slow motion diuretic brass ejection, recoil, phoom phoom noise and dual clip reload was ACE. In the comic book series Preacher (Ennis/Dillon), the unstoppable, unkillable death-in-a-dust-coat apocalypse the Saint of Killers used dual Colt Walker pistols as his weapon. Not a silly shotgun, or some made up "plasma rifle" - NO! Dual pistols! That's what! Counter-strike - the best multiplayer game on the internet at this time bar non, featuring, wait for it - Dual pistols! The Half-Life multiplayer mod, The Opera, drawing on references to Hong Kong cinema had suits with dual pistols as the primary weapon! Avp2 - Primal Hunt will have the marine with Dual Pistols......Soldier of Fortune 2 went to the max, letting you have dual Socoms, dual Uzi's and Dual M911A4 (or whatever) pistols.
What I am trying to say is, there is nothing better that having 36 rounds of death in a full-automatic pistola pair in the palms of your hands.
Okay, so, maybe you prefer.......what? The auto-shotgun? The assault rifle? Tell me, please, I am dying to know just what you have that can beat the unstoppable cool-factor of dual pistols.

Hey, when it comes to Dual Guns, don't forget UT!!
(I just love 'em there, high among my fav choice of destruction :ebil: )

I'm for dual pistols, as long as there are significant disadvantages to them, i.e. worse accuracy, longer reload time, etc. Firing dual pistols should really be only practical at extremely close ranges or when you just want to put a bunch of bullets in the air (covering fire). There's a reason that real life law enforcement officers don't use two pistols at once - because they actually want to hit their target.
King Ronald on 22/6/2002 at 15:36
Ah, yes, sorry old bean - forgot all about the dual enforcers. Never mind, they are yet another example of dual-pistol creamyness.
And, yes, I admit they are unrealistic, but since I will be playing as a seven foot tall, iridescent eye carrying, invisible, super-fast, super-strong, optically-enhanced, super-jump enabled, regenerating, globe trotting super hero born in a bacta tank in Area 51, 90 odd years from today, on a mission to fight ancient bent-on-world-domination political conspiracys then to be honest realism went out the window about five miles back, and if I want to add to the broth with the coolest weapon in creation then so be it. The King decrees it.

I'm talking about a different kind of realism. Like how when sniping your scope bounced all over the place unless you had a high Rifle skill. THAT was realistic, and it didn't matter that you were a seven foot tall augmented whatever-the-hell.
Perhaps it should depend on this newfangled "Bio-Mod" system that's replacing skills. If the old skillset were still being used, then your ability with dual pistols would be greatly dependant on your pistol skill. For example, Untrained in pistols means that you ain't gonna hit squat shooting two at once (you'd have a hard enough time shooting one). A Master in pistols, however, makes you practically a character in a John Woo film.
I don't mind someone doing wild acrobatics with dual pistols shooting nickels out of people's hands with incredible precision and then reloading both guns in about two seconds, as long as those are the skills that they develop their character with. If that's the way they want to play then more power to them.
But I also think that the DX2 team has made their decision already regarding dual pistols (if they ever even considered them), and it's a bit late in the game's development to bring them up now.

Well, I think that as Amorpheus found out, someone in Ion Storm said that all the weapons have dual firing modes - perhaps like in Wolfenstein, with dual pistols as the alternative to the new, improved stealth pistol. (I mean, how else can you use a pistol?).
Phydeaux on 24/6/2002 at 06:41
I too vote no for dual pistols. Unless they find a way to use 2 mouses so you can aim them independently. Otherwise, what's the point in using two 1 hand weapons instead of a big 2 hander. Style? Pfff. If you want John Woo in your game, go play Max Payne.
I'm sure ISA's move toward 2 firing modes is due to the fact that pretty much every other FPS/3PS does it. It's more conventional, and it makes more sense. I'm too used to right-clicking to zoom with a scope, or launch a grenade from other games, DX1 is hard to adapt to. Changing ammo from rifle rounds to HE grenades on the assault rifle in DX1 just never made sense to me.
Alt-mode for the pistol (whatever variation DX2 has of one) IMO should either be just a faster fire, but less accurate (ala the Glock in Halflife, or Enforcer in Unreal), or if energy based, a slower, but more powerful blast.

A big two-hander? Like what:
The Shotgun: The most over-rated gun ever. It needs to be fired at close range to kill, and takes ages to reload. It's also big, bulky and heavy.
Plasma Gun: This gun......hm hm. Hm. Ha. Ha! HA! HA! HA! (collapses on floor laughing).
Gep Gun: Simply activate the blow-up-missiles aug and it's useless.
Assault Rifle: As you've mentioned, takes ages to prep a grenade for use, and you need to be highly trained to use it properly.
Assault Shotgun: See Assault rifle, above, and change "grenade" to "Sabot shell".
Sniper rifle: Never enough ammo lying around, high specialization required. Not practical.
Flamethrower: Oh no. Someones attacking with a flamethrower. Simply a) Step back five paces, so the flame can't touch you, and b) Fire one pistol shot at the fuel barrel, instantly killing the goombah with the gun in the resulting explosion.
Dragons Tooth: C'mon. It's a melee weapon for goodness sake. Just shoot the fool.
So, what have we learned? Well, 1. I am a pistol-fetishist, and 2. The use of Dual pistols in DE2 would easily top any big two-hander weapon. It's just Freudian.

1. I hate dual weapons. Unrealistic.
2. I hate shotguns. They are only good for one thing. Opening doors.
King Ronald on 25/6/2002 at 16:59
Before I respond, I'd like you to say a bit more about why Dual weapons are unrealistic - I don't really understand how, or in what way. Ta.
