You guys are expecting journalism out of Gamestop's official rag?
I don't know if that's not more embarassing than this playthrough.

Seems to be the site S-E are using to release information about thief though

It's not a "site." It's a "magazine," ever heard of those? And game magazines like to get exclusive scoops ahead of everyone else because it's almost literally the only way they can sell copies in this day and age. Add to this the fact that Gamestop is a major games retailer with a huge influence on North American gaming culture, and... it's obvious they'd get all this info first. So no, Squeenix is not using GI to release info. GI just got the scoop ahead of all the other rubes.

With all the exclusive screens and dev interviews/features, it seems more like that SE or EM is using Game Informer as it's vehicle for releasing info. Probably because they're trying to appeal to the Gamestop crew, not hard core PC gamers. How is it a "scoop" when they're releasing info that only the developer/publisher has access to?
And - even if that suggestion is wrong, it hardly seems "facepalm" worthy.

What size hat do you wear?

I don't have a clue what you're talking about, but I'm sure something really f****** clever is forthcoming. Possibly accompanied by an image?

Look Brethren, I think what happened here is that dethtoll was simply being dethtoll. Nothing wrong there, but then he was wrong about something, merely out of simple ignorance, and may not amend the situation properly! It is a huge burden to always have to know everything about everything. :p

Brethren, I asked because I need to know how much tin foil I'll need for your birthday present. A magazine getting an exclusive first look at a game is as much a business deal for the magazine as it is for the game developer/publisher. Here, since you obviously didn't read my previous post, I'll explain it again -- the only way magazines can make sales these days is via exclusives. Game Informer just managed to get the Re-Thief exclusive first.
Seriously, read your post again and tell me how much of a conspiracy theorist you sound. Here's a hint: You sound like someone claiming 9/11 was faked.

Geez there dude, it was this part that just made me feel like you were kinda wingin' it. My bad! I stand corrected. Sheeeeeeeesh.

We're basically on the same page - the above quote made it sound like you were saying GI went out and obtained the info on their own - like an investigative "scoop." I was saying EM/SE decided to release pics and info using GI, but not that they did so out of the kindness of their heart or anything - I'm sure money changed hands for it. Otherwise they'd just put it all on their new shiny Teef site.
The conspiracy and 9/11 mentions seem a bit over the top - at the worst what I said could have been interpreted as the Teef guys handing out info on their new game to get some free press and PR. But yeah, I'm sure in the end they paid for it.
