Enable 4x AA and 16x AF. That should slow it down a bit. If it is still too fast bump up to 6x or 8x AA, though unless you spent $1,000 on a 6800 Ultra SLI setup it shouldn't be neccessary to go that high :P

Last time I saw a problem like this was with System Shock 2, and the V-Sync option worked there.

I just installed Deus Ex GOTY edition on my newish rig which runs on an Athlon 64 3000+ and 9800 Pro (from my old PC). Well... DX kinda runs a bit too fast, haha...
Since you have an Athlon 64, I think it is the CPU speed throttling that is confusing it. If Cool'n'Quiet has been enabled, try disabling it.
You should be able to do this in Windows XP: in "Control Panel" -> "Power Options", set Power Schemes to something other than Minimal Power Management.
Alternatively, you should also be able to disable Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS.

Hi
My game has just sped up, halfway through Hong Kong. I'm not sure what I did to cause it, but I can't get it back to normal speed.
Due to an outstandingly high incomprehension of technical details associated with computers, I was hoping on a bit more of a 'step-through' style advice on how to correct this.
I would really like to finish this game.
Thanks,

Just an update to help future gamers who are experiencing this issue...
Game speed can be modified by editing the DeusEx.ini file (c:\deusex\system\DeusEx.ini)
Inside that file is a field literally called: GameSpeed=
By default it's set to 1.0. Set it to something lover (e.g. 0.5 or 0.7)
Cheers.

I had this problem just moments ago and fixed it by turning off my AMD Cool'n'Quiet.

I'm getting a brain cramp trying to figure out how someone who uses "lol" as punctuation could possibly enjoy playing Deus Ex.
Seriously. Someone help me out here.
Sexual reppresion is really getting to you these days? stop bitching and go fix some shock 2 textures.
As for the topic turn on vsnyc and force AA in your cards options.
