Hi all,
I just installed Deus Ex GOTY edition on my newish rig which runs on an Athlon 64 3000+ and 9800 Pro (from my old PC). Well... DX kinda runs a bit too fast, haha... it's almost like I need to use a 'moslo' utility or something. JC is running around like Sonic the Hedgehog (jumping really fast too) and the voice messages and dialogue get cut off before they're finished (the infolink text comes up and renders pretty fast, then waits for a bit, while the audio is still playing, and then it just stops about 3/4 of the way through - same for in-game dialogue too). Anyone got any ideas about how to fix this?
Cheers,
{R}

NM, I just found out about the cpuspeed command line option, which seems to be helping out... I'll have to muck around until I get the best setting.
-cpuspeed=3000
...make the game run like molasses, where as:
-cpuspeed=1800
...(the actual MHz speed of this 3000+) makes it still a little too quick. I might try 2400 or something and see how it goes.

Try switching V-Sync ON from your videocard settings. Works with me. Slows down other games so turn it off to have performance with heavier games.

I'm getting a brain cramp trying to figure out how someone who uses "lol" as punctuation could possibly enjoy playing Deus Ex.
Seriously. Someone help me out here.

You are talking like he's asking help for game that the most intelligent can only play. Something deep.
And Im not saying that rainmaker wouldn't be intelligent, just thought.

It is also possible that the game has been commanded to run extra fast. The behaviour RM described is consistent with the speed actually being changed.
to fix this:
1: Enabled Cheats (usually set DeusEx.JCDentonMale bCheatsEnabled True)
2: hit the talk button (type t) erase Say and type "slomo 1" without the quotes.
Hey presto DX should work a charm.

How do you activate the command line?

Oh I'm terribly sorry, dear chap - how simply *awful* of me to forget that we are discussing such a mature and thought provoking game as Deus Ex. How *dare* I denigrate such greatness by uttering a common Internet peasant term like "lol", or "EL OH EL" to the educated, in association with such gaming magnificence. I humbly apologise from the depths of my being, and truly hope I can avoid making such a horrid transgression again.

I was passing the cpuspeed option as part of the shortcut to the executable, for example:
C:/path/to/deusex/system/deusex.exe -cpuspeed=3000

press the T key during the game.
