Simple scenario : I played System Shock (1) up to the point where you need to use exactly 4 plastiques to blow up antennas/computer nodes. As I recall, the plastiques are from a far prior level. Now, here's the issue :
I, for whatever reason, dropped a single plastique all the plastiques. Where, I have no idea and finding it them is not feasible. So, I'm stuck at blowing up the 4th node and there's no other means by which to destroy the nodes as far as I know. In other words, I'm screwed.
So, my question is this : How can this situation be rectified without needing to start all over prior to picking up the plastiques? Is it possible to hexedit my save (I looked into this but I believe the saves are XOR-encryped)? Is there a save editor of some sort? Is there another plastique somewhere? Is there a way around this part?
Any help or info is appreciated.

There are lot of plastiques in level 4 in storage 1. Return to level 4 and grab one there :)

Citadel Station is not a linear set of levels like in Doom. You can take elevators back to the storage level and grab some more plastique. I say "elevators" because I'm pretty sure it's not a straight shot from engineering to storage. You'll have to transfer elevators once or twice.

Three different elevators will be necessary. You just have to choose whether you want to go from Executive to Maintenance or the Flight Deck, and then from one of those two to Storage.

Like how they handled backtracking in SS2; made in quiet a pleasant way. Moving back you discover places you haven't been to, new things to do or just some enemies to kill for loot.

Thanks for the info guys. My problem is more profound than just going back and grabbing them. I misconstrued my original post (corrected). See below.

I checked back at storage as recommended and alas, there were none. The problem is I apparently must've picked up
all of them when I was first there far earlier in the game. There was a long delay before they were required, so I put them down
somewhere. Damned if I remember where. Finding them is less feasible than just literally starting over and I'd just about rather saw off my arm with a rusty butterknife than do that.
So, I'm asking what, if any, options I have other than the obvious : 1. Start over 2. Find them. Ideally I'd like to hexedit a single one into my inventory but Looking Glass's save format is XOR encrypted and would be a ton of work to alter.

Well aware. This is not my first Looking Glass game. I played through both Underworlds a
long long time ago.

Didn't mean to offend; from the initial post it seemed as though you had moved through once and hadn't had to backtrack.

Why the hell would you pick up and carry all those plastiques around?
Since it's not exactly very easy to reach the room where they are stored, when I get there what I usually do is take them all and drop them near the elevator, so that if something happens later on, they'll be easily reachable. If you decided to drop them somewhere else far from an elevator, then it's your fault :)
Did you by any chance also take the one that is inside MacLeod's office?
Running_Wild on 15/9/2013 at 17:46
Yes, I fully realize it's my fault. That's not in dispute at all. As far as why I took them, what you mention implies
prior knowledge of their importance. This is my first playthrough. I had no distinct awareness of their need until far later. I carried them all for a long time until I finally ran out of inventory room and dropped them incorrectly figuring these stupid things were never used. My question is what, if anything, can be done in this case?
Anyhow, I don't know if I checked MacLeod's Office. So that will be my next course of action.
EDIT :
Ok, I went to MacLeod's office and lo and behold, there was one Plastique there. Fucking awesome! D'Arcy, thanks a ton! I am in your debt.

No problem. You're good man. :)

No problem. I'm glad I could help.
Now go and put an end to SHODAN's plans :)
