Deus Ex 2 uses the same engine as the Thief: Deadly Shadows, right?
So does the Deus Ex 2 suffer same performance problems as Thief: Deadly Shadows, or is it better optimized?

Yes, same engine, though Thief : DS came out like a year or so later than Invisible War. I find they run pretty close to one another on my PC. They seem to have the same limitations,as wel (getting choppy in similar situations). Fells daju vu-ish going from one to another, also. Except one (IW) everything looks blue, and DS has brown everywhere.

Deus Ex 2 crashes alot, Thief DS has only done it a few times. TDS is alot more optimized and graphically better.

Deus Ex IW, DOES crash a lot. I have only had T : DS crash once, while DX;IW at least 10 times.

I was actually able to play the whole game when it forst came out using windows ME if you can believe it. Had some crashes but not bad. I then put XP on recently and can not come back up the inclinator without a crash. So I uninstalled it. :O(

I played (and finished) both DE:IW and T:DS on the same very obsolete P3 machine. It seemed to me that T:DS actually ran significantly better. Both were slow, and both bogged down when lots of characters were running around, but sometimes DE:IW would bog down in strange places for no obvious reason. And the nature of the game (shooting vs. sneaking) makes a low framerate much more of a liability in DE:IW, IMHO.

Well, I am on my 3rd play through in as many weeks of IW. It is crashing a LOT> I am playing like 3 hour sessions w/short breaks every hour or so(though the PC and the game remain on). Seems ever hour or so, I get a crash to desktop (CTD). It ONLY happens when I am shooting and a grenade goes off on screen. I am starting to think it is either a sound error, or the video is overloaded w/too much going on, like the game just doesn't like that certain combo of events.. I don't really know. Doesn't sound fixable.
