hi,
I am new here .. and just started playing Morrowind recently. So far I really like it and would love to keep playing it ... BUT
I just came to Belmora (not sure if thats the name) joined the Fighter's guild and I am playing the third mission (go kill the 4 people in that mine) .. and they seem to be way stronger then me. As a matter of fact I get killed a lot. I died in the first mission when I had to fight the rats at least twice ... RATS!!! ...
When I first read a review about this game I read that it is suppose to be rather easy (they actually listed that as a negative point) ... so I figured that this might be a fun game as I am not really a hardcore gamer. But so far I don't stand a chance in this game.
My question to all you veteran gamers out there: What is the deal with me and this game? Am I really that bad or is that game harder then I thought it was? I understand that in role-playing games like these you start out as a looser and fight easy enemies in the beginning and then slowly advance in skills to fight the harder opponents.
It would be too bad if the game is too diffcult for me, I'd get frustrated rather quickly if I had to fear every mission and encounter in the game (which is basicly the case now) If this game is really that hard I'll have to delete it and forget about it .. which I would feel sorry about.
Thanks in advance for your opinions and help.

At the beginning of the game, all the creatures are either tougher than you, or equal in strength... only reason I see for this is you start with 30-40hp and creatures can do 5-7... but later in the game, when you have some skills maxed, your lvl will probably be 18-30+, hp at 180+, and creatures will do about 5-20dmg... so it's normal for a low lvl to find the game difficult, but soon, you'll learn that the combat doesn't get any harder... just easier.

If it really starts to get to you though, and assuming you're on a PC (as opposed to an XBox), just bring up the console (~) and type in tgm
Better to have you cheat a trifle than give up in frustration, IMHO ;)

The game is challenging at first, but easy at finish.

depending on the type of character you are playing, it can be easy or hard. If you are a mage/thief with little/no equipment then you will have a tough time at first. What I did as a newbie character was loot all the crates/houses i could until i had enough money to buy some decent equipment, and i was only ever challenged in a fight 5 or 6 times throughout the course of the entire game. I finished it at level 19 or so, but I relied heavily on potions to defeat endboss enemies, and I didn't finish off any of the side quests.. just advanced through the fighter's guild until i had finished all the balmora quests and that was it. The only skill I had maxxed when I finished the game was long blade.
