Game controller support?

Hi guys!
I'm a newbie here (actually this will be my very first post on the forums), I am slowly getting my act together (between kids, job and general life responsibilities) to try out some Thief FMs, an adventure I haven't taken on before.
I am a long time fan of the Thief series (first two installments), played a reduced demo version of Baffords manor off some magazine CD back in 98 and have been in love ever since... Completed the OMs for T1 and 2 several times through the years, and feel that I'm not quite done yet :)
Anyways, as mentined, I'm in the preperation and setup phase right now, dug T2 out of my library on gog, started looking at patches etc. and got to thinkin about Game Controller support...?
I don't know if it makes any kind of sense for Thief, but wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on a brilliant implementation here.
So... Any thoughts?

I'm afraid I'm technically challenged so won't be much help but there are a couple of threads I found with a quick search (which I haven't really read) which may help. Otherwise I'm sure someone will come along soon to help out.

It's a well-known fact that when you search yourself, you never turn up what you want but someone else is always able to find the answer or at least a thread or two. :)
