These things are so far removed from my gaming habits (or those of anyone I know) that they seem like a farce.
While it seems like this to me too, I should probably point out that the average TTLG gamer tends to have more niche tastes than most gamers.

Yeah, I understand that I'm not the audience for these things. It makes it hard to discuss the Game Awards without cynicism.

If you're not a fan of hot and spicy food why the f would you pay attention to the Hot and Spicy Food Awards at all?
Why even discuss it? Why even WATCH it? Discuss it? Pffft.
In other news, the asshats at TLOU2's subreddit are very disappointed because they're all immature idiots who can't handle the story.

I don't pay much attention to these award shows, lists like these can be fun, but this one certainly is not. Is this supposed to be like the Oscars of the gaming scene or something?
Also, I'm not sure if your food comparison works here. It's not Hot and Spicy Food Awards, or at least the generic name (Game Awards) gives that impression. So if you're not a fan of hot and spicy food, why would you
not pay attention to the
Food Awards?

Since I don't have a Playstation, I'm watching a video playthrough of TLOU2. It's a slog, about 10+ hours, but I'm watching it like a tv show, like I did for the first one. I'd say it's even well suited for that, and the player is doing a good job of exploring a bit out of the way sometimes, just to capture the bigger world of the game, which I appreciate. The first one had a big impact on me too, so I'm coming in sympathetic.
Anyway, about an hour in, of course I can't say too much, but the tone of it is what in the US we'd call dramas on channels like The WB and Freeform/ABC Family. It's kind of highschool pop drama, which isn't to say I can't get into it. I was also highschooler once before too. The intro doesn't have the magic the first one had right off the bat, although I can see how it's pushing some serotonin buttons a lot more right off. Anyway, I'll withhold comment until I've watched the whole thing. I definitely love the world and the way they integrate interactivity and storytelling into it so far.

Get a Playstation, play them both.
You're wrong about the story too. It's far more mature than a highschool drama and tbh I don't even know where you would get that from in the game.
Play it, it's not the same as watching.

Yeah, that sounds like a really weird thing to say for those of us who've played through the whole game, but I'm guessing he's referring to the cute little romance between Ellie and her girlfriend.

As I said it's just been the first maybe 40 minutes. It was that and just more generally day-to-day community life.
Kingdom Come Deliverance started off like that too, kind of innocuous village life to set up the ensuing drama that came up fast, so now I'm thinking it's playing that role.
I'll hold off commenting until it's over or through the bulk of it anyway.

What's highschool about it? It's not a drama, it's not ott, it just is. It's realistic.
Play it dema. Its great. 5/5 imho.
Brethren? You score? Out of 5?
Renault on 13/12/2020 at 16:29
I'd give it a strong 4 out of 5, but it just didn't have the impact that the first game did, at least to me. I posted my comments on the game in the TLOU2 thread.
