Gah! SS2 decided to spit in my face. - by zemegauser

I was up traversing throughout the Ops deck, happy that my weapon skills were recently increased to allow me to wield several new powerful weapons; when I decided to go to another bulkhead of the deck.
Well, as it was loading the game just crashed, first crash throughout the whole game. I booted the game up again, and saw that my quicksave had been replaced by an autosave.
Trying to load up the autosave puts me at the entrance of Operations deck, with all my current journal entries, notes, research and skills.
The only problem is that every single nanite, (over 700 nanites), every single cyber module, (over 50), and every single inventory item, equipped and unequipeed, is gone.
That's my only save, is there a way to retrieve all my lost items?

I suspect not (although I'm happy to be proved wrong). Best thing is to play through again and not rely on a single quicksave slot. The game had areas that could crash even when it was first released and although it
should be possible to rely one one save game it's not recommended.
Hopefully it doesn't put you off, and you'll probably find that getting back to where you are now takes less time than you expect.

Yeah, I have quite a bit of changes to do to my character leveling process; as well as upping the difficulty to Impossible.

wow thats really gay. weve all been screwed by ss2 savegames going nuts at one point or another. im sorry i cant offer any help as ive gone through similar things that you currently are. i tried everything i and the people on these forums could think of, including loading my savegame through ShockEd and messing with it through there. hate to tell you but youre gonna just have to replay the game. if memory serves me correct....arent there codes that can grant u weapons, items blah blah blah? im all against cheating but in this case using a few cheat codes to get ur items back would be warranted.
yeah this game has codes. here ya go

For some reason, my installation of SS2 has just decided to start crashing every 4 or 5 minutes with SecMod installed. Was fine before I got into the engineering decks... anyone else had this issue?
Also, after reloading a save in the coolant pipes all the walls went pinky-red before it crashed a few mins later. Interesting!

Don't use old save games with new mods.

It was a new game Kol - not old saves. Id just decided to have a play on it cos id got to Engineering last time i played with SecMod.
...think I might just reinstall the whole thing anyway
