You can have all of the houses at the same time. You furnish each one seperately.
I'm going to guess that paintbrushes were involved in "hanging" those weapons up in those screenshots.

If I knew of a place to upload my savegame, you can download it and see for yourself. Go ask Bethesda why the Glass Battleaxes sit in such a weird position; I kept trying to make the axes' handles rest on the fireplace mantle but they seem to go "horizontal" by themselves most of the time.
Matthew got the right idea on how I arranged the deco; he probably used it himself.
