So if you went back in time, you'd only communicate with yourself via text messaging? :erg:

No, I used to talk like that.

I very much enjoyed the part when I found my brother Paul in the hotel room. He's sitting in the corner in a chair looking pretty beat-up and urgently trying to get a serious message across to me.
So what did I do?
I picked up all of the pots and pans from the kitchen area and threw them at Paul. It was the serious look on his face combined with his bitter complaints directed at me to 'Stop fooling around' (or something like that) whilst the kitchen utensils were stacking up in a perfect pile on his head (he's sitting in front of a wall, remember?) that absolutely cracked me up.

More ridiculous was how he's incapable of moving until the MiBs burst in, at which point you can watch him wipe out the entire hotel. Now that's what I call an adrenaline boost :erg:

This annoyed me
Paul is sat there, 'can't' move bruv', they got me, can't get to the roof'
'Tell you what, I'll meet you somewhere else....things to do'
THEN bang, he's up and at them!
Not a limp in sight!
AND....
If it's his kill switch, why come I'm not flopping about complaining in Hong Kong?
Obvious question of the day - it's allowed

Let's see if I can fanwank this. Ummm....
Okay, Paul is sitting there dying, but as soon as the MiBs bust in he activates all his augs (strength, regeneration, etc) which allows him to kick UNATCO ass. But this is such a drain on his bioelectric cells that the moment you escape, he collapses and gets captured.
As for why J.C. isn't affected as much as Paul, that's easy-- Paul's killswitch has been active longer. Plus, J.C. has... uhhh... the will of the warrior.

And J.C. Is slightly newer.
And newer models have better capabilities.
Like Walton Simons.
Never mind.

Off-topic; the first time I played Deux Ex, I was expecting Simons to put up a tough fight. After the conversation ended, I fired my (heavily modified) assault shotgun with sabot rounds at his head.
Five seconds later, and without not one shot fired at me, he was dead. I had more trouble with MJ12 commandos the first time around than with Simons. Apparently there's a way to turn on ADS and other augs for Simons by editing some code; it'd certainly make things more interesting.

Well . . . maybe I'm just misunderstanding this, but when Manderley breaks the news to JC that Paul's gone postal, I could swear to it that Manderley says something to the effect of: "we've shut down his augmentations and activated the kill switch."
Every time I come to that part, I wonder why the hell they didn't do the same to JC, or whether I've completely mixed up what he meant.
