Just been listening to some rnb and soul music by The Commodores and Kool and the Gang and others.
I'd forgotten just how good that music sounds and feels.:)
You just can't beat classic 70's soul.
Anyone else got favourites from that era?

For my money, 70's funk gets no better than Sly and the Family Stone's Stand album, and P-Funk's Mothership Connection. Also, Herbie Hancock's Thrust is pretty damn awesome.
p.s. Earth, Wind, & Fire are ghey.

(

The album that song is on was released last September. No, really.

Billy Preston (one of the "Fifth Beatles"), he did "Outa Space" and "Nothing from Nothing".
Joe Tex. He's perhaps presently best known for "I Gotcha" on the soundtrack for Reservoir Dogs. Also did the classic "Ain't Gonna Bump No More with no Big Fat Woman".
Anything by Johnny "Guitar" Watson is good.
And of course, George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadellic.

Kraftwerk.
"Funkiest white guys I've ever seen." - Afrika Bambaata
Oh, and then, if not applicable, then clearly James Brown. Or, Sly and the family Stone, or Parliament. You really should look up Sly Stone.

Not a huge fan, but there is a lot of great stuff to be found in the genre to be sure.
I love a lot of what James Brown and George Clinton put together, and of course Bootsy Collins funk bass can't go unmentioned.
All things considered, Roger Troutman certainly had the most bounce to the ounce.
