(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archosaur) Archosaurs! Not bloody lizards! Like I keep trying to tell you, birds have about as much in common with lizards as mammals do. And a chicken IS a dinosaur. But that thing about reversals is true. Ratites (ostriches etc) are pretty much the most basal living birds, and they actually have little hand claws under all the feathers on their wings.

Every single animal in Australia is proof He does.
You've got giant rats that hop along on huge feet, sport VEECIOUS TAHLONS, and randomly ejaculate on poor unsuspecting golfers. Cute cuddly teddy bears who hang out in trees and will KILL YOU if you get too close. Poisonous toads so poisonous you can't even look at them without dying horribly. These three are just off the top of my head. There are things, far, far worse over there.
In short...
Australia: I'd like to visit, but the fucked up animals scare me.
Edit: And don't even get me started on the Platypus. I feel this violent rage build up in me everytime I look at one because my mind can't comprehend the paradox of something that Just Shouldn't Be. I mean GOOD GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING?

Who doesn't? Fucking golfers.
...and their stupid hats.
Edit: I feel the same way toward golfers.

Also, hilariously: it's venomous, too. :p

I know of a strange humanesque creature, only it has a vestigial tail. How fucked up is that?
(on a slightly related note, for the longest time (until I stopped being such a gullible, god fearing numpty) I thought that men and women actually did have a different number of ribs)

Do people remember the
peanut butter + light = life argument? HILARIOUS.
I've never understood intelligent design. If you're religious, THE WHOLE POINT OF YOUR RELIGION is that you have faith in something that is difficult to believe, and that you believe that god will reward you for doing this.
So doesn't finding evidence to back it up/turning it into a science undermine the very basic concept of FAITH?Well yes, but these are terrified and small-minded people, who have no room for the ambiguity and uncertainty that comes with that. The only thing they want is certainty, so they retreat into a fantasy world where the bible is literally true and Jesus will come and save them from dying.
Naturally, they lash out viciously against anything that threatens to burst their little bubble and force them to face the world as it actually is.

I was taught in elementary school that men and women
did have a different number of ribs--second grade, if I remember right. The teacher was a retired nun...

Not totally relevant, but (

Pretty well - except 'Reptile' isn't really accepted as a real group any more. Formally, birds = dinosaurs = (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archosaur) archosaurs (birds + crocs and fossil relatives, basically) = (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sauria) saurians (archosaurs + lizard types things) = (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sauropsid) sauropsids (lots of dead stuff, saurians and turtles) = (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amniota) amniotes (everything that lays, or has laid, 'proper' eggs) = (
ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrapods) tetrapods (amniotes and amphibians and some other stuff - any land vertebrate, basically).
Mammals are part of the (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synapsid) synapsids, which are the other main type of amniote and include wierd shit like (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelycosaurs) pelycosaurs. People also use the phrase 'Diapsid' a lot, which means almost the same thing as sauropsid, except it excludes turtles and other weirdos.
