I just plain don't get why watching Jensen beating the snot out of a bunch of women (or even one woman) or stabbing them in the tits is funny, period. Simple enough. I found those violence-against-women videos offensive; all of them. In fact, I honestly believe that videos like that contribute to giving the game a bad rep; case in point, my friend who thought Jensen was a 'Wolverine'-type character who went on indiscriminate killing sprees. I also watched one where Jensen kills everyone at the Hive because of the bartender's lame remark and I thought that one was pretty sick as well. That's NOT what the game is about.
Some of the vids were pretty funny, like Jensen's Safety Dance and the one about being able to tell when you've been playing HR too much. But the gratuitous violence evidenced in the other fan-made videos was not funny imo, and I really don't understand the type of sense of humor that would consider those vids entertaining in the least.
To each their own, I guess. Just sayin'.

I've no doubt that for some people,
the ability to stab people with blades that pop out of your forearms
and punch through walls
and watch yourself do it in graphic 3rd person glory
... IS what this game is all about.
It's necessary to broaden the appeal of the game, because a lot of gamers are sold on the flash first and don't appreciate the depth until later.
BTW, I'm not above low brow humor. For example, I thought this was funny:

The difference is that somebody had to discover this by playing around with the game systems.
It's not something the developers intended and I would never have thought to try it myself.

Like Dia, it never occurred to me to takedown civvies. When I was playing, I accidentally hit "Q" exactly once. I'd meant to hit "W", and just walk away. Instead, it went something like:
"Welcome to Hengsha rooftop gardens! It is very pleasant here, don't you - Huh?" *POW*!
I laughed for a solid minute at the absurdity of it. :p

I don't attack civvies either, and rarely think about it, though some of the ones in Hengsha certainly tempt fate. "Get lost, loser"? Doesn't he see my military grade cyber arms?
I'm pretty selective about killing, too. If you're not Belltower/Spec Ops, I'll probably just KO you or sneak past if you're in my way. Harversters, I'm on the fence about. They're pretty sick.
