Recently I managed to get a laptop going, the same one that I used to play Deus Ex with. But this time it wouldn't be as easy; everything installed ok, but it won't play on fullscreen. I've searched all over the internet for answers, and I've tried all of them. The only thing that did work was when I switched the 3D-device from DirectX to Software.
The other problem is that DX lost it's "shiny surfaces", like reflective floors. Every graphic options are set to the highest but it still won't work. The problem is the same if I switch back to DirectX also.
Anyone know of this problem and know how to fix it?

Still haven't found what I'm looking for.
Anyone ever had the same problem?

Of course, we have to start out with the basics. You're right, solutions are hard to find. So (take a deep breath), please list your system specs and list out what fixes you've tried so we don't waste too much more of your time telling you what you probably already know. ;)

Always worth a try :) ...
My system is:
Compaq Laptop Computer
Windows XP Home Edition
Service Pack 3
Pentium 4, 2.00 Ghz
256 MB RAM
20 GB Disk Space
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 (Omega 3.8.442) <-- downloaded from "omegadrives".
DirectX 9.0
The version of Deus Ex is the Game of the Year Edition. Both WinXP and DX are original and not illegaly downloaded if that has any meaning.
Also, WinXP was installed, in fact shipped, with this computer (though this was years ago, probably 5 or so), but I installed DX back then and it worked fine. No hardware has been removed or replaced.
Again, what I tried was to run the game in DirectX-suppor, but it would only play in windowed mode. The resolution could only be changed to 800 x 600 from 640 x 480, but no more, and it would change back to 640 x 480 once the game is restarted. The "shiny surfaces" (for example, no mirror image on the floor on the training mission) are not visible in DirectX-mode, nor is glass and computers etc.
Playing in Software-mode does allow fullscreen, but again there are no "shiny surfaces".
But again I must stress that the same DX was played on the same computer with the same operative system and hardware and everything before, and "back then" everything worked fine.

youll need to google the best(old) version for that card as it quite old as the latest drivers will not be optomised for it

knightoftheforrest: Is anybody home :)? AFAIK, you should check your Deus Ex' settings in the System\DeusEx.ini file (it is in the game's folder). Just make sure that every "ShinySurfaces=
True" (there are several of them). BTW, I'd like to suggest you to use latest (
http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/) Chris Dohnal's improved renderer for Deus Ex.
P.S. (
