Opinions: Action is typical over-the-top ridiculousness. The drama swings wildly between gag-comedy to macabre horror. That's how it's supposed to be of course. I don't remember if the first anime had quite as much gore. Not that a kid's show would ever be gorey. But there's an edginess here. Reminds me a bit of Blood: The Last Vampire.
