The game just randomly freezes in Windows 98. No rhyme or reason. It could happen after I've been in the air for a few minutes, could happen as I'm trying to land, could happen before I've even taxied from park. Can't drop back to windows, not even with Ctrl-Alt-Del. Forced to turn machine off and restart.
Any ideas?
System:
Win98
333mhz AMDK6/2 processor
128 megs ram
Riva TNT2 with 30.82 drivers (Newer drivers are incompatible with Dark engine games, I've heard).
There were no problems when I was running Win2K. Same 3D accelerator drivers.

All I can suggest is that even if the video driver download was exactly the same file for both Win2K and Win98, internally they will probably be doing some things differently, and so what works fine on one OS might not necessarily be perfect on another.
Overheating could cause random crashes. Do you play many other intensive games on the system?
Audio problems can crash machines at odd moments. Trying disabling audio completely if there is a some kind of set-up option or command-line option to do this (I don't have it installed, sorry) and see whether that solves the problem. (Not that you want to remain without sound, but it might narrow the problem down, or eliminate this as a cause if it still crashes).

-Other things:
If you have packages installed; some are not compatible with each other.
--If you have a "packages" folder within your Flight3 location, re-name to frackages or something and see if the problem goes away.
Does this happen at the same airport? Tried starting a flight from another airfield?
Lower scenery detail in options menu.
Hit Shift+F11 will turn of taxi lines, impoving frame rates.
Check your version of DirectX versus your video driver. DX8.1 works ok for me mated to a Voodoo v5-5500pci. Run dxdiag

Whoops, forgot to mention that I have two sets of drivers, one for Win9x, the other for 2K/XP.

I installed Morrowind on this thing a month or two ago, to test if I had the right patch for my version. Ran like hell, obviously, but I verified I had the right patch. There were no problems aside from the slowness.
I'm running FUII, not III. I will try that ram testing program though.
Edit: No errors reported after running it for 6 1/2 hours.
