Small topic in terms of relevance to people on here, but if there's one thing I'm glad I made time for this year, it was fucking THIS:

(I didn't film it because my phone has potato camera, but watched this plus a few other things round the city (there are over 100 installations))
So glad they decided to go ahead with it this year - definitely worth having the city filled with tourists and machine guns.

o nifty. reminds me of those low shutter speed photos that capture a moving LED light drawing cool patterns in the air.

Just wow. The cathedral footage is simply stunning. I've never seen anything like that before. Thank you for posting it.

I still can't get my head round how real they made it look. That video was not treated at all. Genuinely mind-blowing.

I've watched it a few times now. It really lifts my spirits which, apart from ZB's reference to 'going on the roof', is the only thing that's cheered me recently apart from a couple of other things which are not for this thread.

Very nice faetal. I wish more cities would do something like this.
Aussies and Kiwis reading this should consider making a trip to Sydney to see Vivid ((

When I moved to Sydney the show was in its second year and it was still being billed as an exhibit of smart/efficient lighting technologies, along with a concert series at the opera house. But the main draw was seeing video projected on the Opera House sails. It's a novelty that does wear off, but it's a pretty spectacular one, especially the first time you see it. The lighting exhibits were pretty cool too. They were more like contemporary art pieces than technology exhibits. In subsequent years, the use of projection expanded to other buildings around the harbor and onto the water. And the exhibits became more interactive and multimedia. By 2013 it was a big tourist event and the next year there were throngs of people. I've heard it's only gotten bigger since then.
