Ok since finding out there are only two varieties of dai-katana  (my favourite weapon) steel and deadric I've decided I need to fill the gap before getting a deadric dai-katana by enchanting my steel Dai-katana.
I've been trying to decide between two enchantments -
Touch, 31 frost damage, duration 1, cost to cast 6.
&
Touch, 19 absorb health, duration 1, cost to cast 6.
I have a grand soul gem with a winged twilights soul in it which will give me a charge of 300 which I stole from Balmora.
I'm tempted by the frost damage to be honest as I want to kill an enemy as quickly as possible (as I'm only level 9) but I'm obviously not completely decided hence why I'm asking you all for your opinions.
I've chosen to make the min and max the same values because the average damage caused when maxing out the damage value isn't as good.
I'd also like to know whether a creature that is immune to 'normal' weapons takes the total damage from an enchanted weapon or simply takes the damage inflicted by the magic?
Thanks

Well, this is all IMHO, so take it for what its worth:
I would opt for the absorb health over the frost damage for two reasons:
First, some beasties are immune to frost, so your weapon will not do the extra damage.
Second, the ability to heal in combat is a wonderful thing, and what better way to heal than to siphon off some of that extra blood the beasties seem to lose everytime you hit them. :sly:
But beyond that, it is mosty an aesthetical call on your part, the real question is, "what do you prefer"?
Also, regarding the damage question. The full range of damage inflicted by a weapon is transferred to "Immune" beasties when you hit them with a magical weapon (regardless of level of enchantment) and then the additional damage range from the enchantment is then taken from them (if the enchantment works, sometimes the beasties resist the 'magical' damage) so the iron sparksword you find outside Seyda Neen will just as likely hit a ghost as your 'uber' dai-katana with the above enchantments.:thumb:

And don't forget to enchant it to "cast when strikes" as opposed to "cast when used". It's a common mistake, and makes for a really sucky weapon

I'd choose Absorb Health. I used to have an ebony longswrod with absorb health 30+, now I'm using a Daedric Dai-katana with absorb health 40+ :) and I must say, it's really hard to die with these babies.

Absorb it is then!
The only problem is I've just stumbled on a sword called 'chrysamere' which has very good stats but the actual enchantment is nothing to get excited about (cast when used defensive spells). The sword itself looks a bit plain but I can't complain considering how much better it is compared to my trusty steel Dai-Katana.
I'll tell you all where to get the sword but you'll all probably tell me you've got it anyway!
I met my first fire and frost atronachs in the cave and at level 10 i was scared to say the least but I battled through (thanks to my dark elf's resistance to fire) and managed to kill off some pathetic necromancer. :ebil:
I'll save the money I would have used to enchant (my enchant skill is only around 22-24) and wait till I can get a Daedric Dai-Katana to enchant with Absorb health.
I'm unsure what to do about chrysamere I mean it's nice and everything but I don't like how it looks at all and it doesn't suit my character (lightly armoured with robe) unlike the Dai-Katana...
Thanks.

Just don't lose Chrysamere (or the Lord's Mail, for that matter) if you plan on getting top rank in the Legion ;)

Both the chrysamere and the lord's mail are tamreilic relics, all of which are better than the average variety of armor/weapon/ring/etc.
/me points to my post on tamreilic relics...
