I must agree it is a bit of exaggeration with Viktoria's return, heh:)
Is it really though?
I mean, she was a Dryad (wood nymph) and, according to legend, believed to be immortal and live forever.

It wouldn't be a slightest problem if EM would want to bring her again, of course:)

Sure.
But what about the mythology of dryads? That's what I would like to talk about. :p

We don't know much about dryads/wood nymphs at all, do we? We don't even know are there more of them in Thief universe ;)
...But I can see Viktoria's daughter thinking that Garrett is responsible for her mother's death. And now she is making her plan of bloody revenge in new Thief, ha :sly:

We know plenty about them from ancient beliefs, particularly ancient Greek and other Pagan mythology. I'm not saying that's how it is in the Thief universe... but, you know, its something to think about. When Viktoria sacrificed herself; she may not have actually 'died', per se. :)

Thats just a sick joke right?
They're not turning Thief into a 3rd person parkour superhero reboot!
Thats like one of those racy rape jokes or something I guess.
I'm sure that some people find them funny,
but they're more then a little offensive IMO.
thiefessa on 13/5/2013 at 07:08
Of course its not a joke. :cheeky:

It seems to me that the answer is right in front of our faces.
REBOOT
Although Merriam/Webster have not gotten around to updating...
or rebooting,
the definition of the word,
ALL evidence clearly explains what "Reboot" means:
Ripped off, dumbed down, and shellacked in high gloss for 13 year olds.
So,
thats what you can expect.
They already told you so.

Well, I might as well add my two cents.
What I do like:
Some of the guards look pretty cool. A hint of realism with some kewl mixed in there, but I can deal with that.
I like how NuGarrett's hands appear on screen when close to a wall or object, that seems to add to the immersion. Immersion is a good thing.
Honestly, I kinda like the way NuGarrett's face looks (not the Tim Burton-esque makeup crap, but his actual face). He looks like what I assume a younger Garrett looks like.
What I don't like:
....everything else.
Black eyeliner/eye shadow, stealth takedowns, third-person, a cover system, changing the tool arrows (water to dry ice crystals), parkour, straps and buckles out the freakin' wazoo on his outfit, his Mortal Kombat-ish ninja appearance, the bow (and gangsta shooting style), no SR, little magic, implementation of too much realism in a game inspired by a game that balanced realism and magic beautifully, no more "taffer", the inclusion of actual cursing, little to no inclusion of the established factions aside from the city watch (I may be wrong about that, feel free to correct me), and FOCUS.
I'm sure there's more I left out, but whatever.
That all said, if this were a continuation of the original series, I'd be ALL up in arms about this. However, since this is a reboot, I don't feel like I have much room to gripe about it all. This is a reimagining, not a sequel or prequel. They could give NuGarrett a lazer rifle and have him steal from aliens but encourage combat, and I couldn't say much. The moment I'd open my mouth to complain, EM would say "Nope! REBOOT." They have no limits to what they can change, really. It makes me sad and leaves me feeling betrayed, but there's not much we can do at this point.
