From the bleak, snow blasted wastes of Colorado... - by Renzatic

Reader, I pledged. I didn't think that Wasteland 2 was great, but there was still a lot I liked, and I'm curious to see how they build on that. At US$33 I'm quite happy to support the team and get the game in the end.

So you all trusted Brian Fargo enough when he popped up on Kickstarter to ask for money out of good faith. You gave him $50 through the service on good faith, expecting him to pull through on the strength of his reputation.
So he took you $50, and made a game. Even came out with a big upgrade later that he released free of charge. He goes back to the same well again, but this time, instead of using another service, he plays a part in starting up another one more focused on game developers, providing him and those with him the same thing without as much overhead, and now we're all like "FUCK YOU, MAN. YOU COULD STEAL FROM ME! WHY SHOULD WE TRUST YOU?"
...cuz he could've ripped you off at any point during one of his three previous Kickstarter runs. Hell, Kickstarter could've ripped you off at any point during those three previous Kickstarter runs. Not trusting him to do the same thing he's done three times before, because he now has a part in the funding service is...well...it's entirely fucking arbitrary.
"But we don't know who's behind this new service."
YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHO WAS BEHIND THE SCENES AT KICKSTARTER, EITHER! DID IT MATTER TO ANYONE THEN? NO! THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP, TONY!
I love how everyone has been going to the extremes with all of this, assuming that we (the people who trust Fig less than KS) thinking we`re towering in terror over it all.
To trust 1 over another more when there is more neutrality involved does not mean that we think Fig is untrustworthy. It's just
less than Kickstarter for the reasons given. Less trustworthy is not the same
as saying that a site is untrustworthy.

No one's going to extremes. The feeling of familiarity with KS may swing you over if you go with your gut, and that's fine.
What everyone's saying is simply that the feeling of a net lack of 'trust' in one platform vs. the other is unfounded if you examine it properly: the risks are still the same. You stand to lose the money you put in if the project doesn't come through, or the end product may not be as good as your expectations led you to believe. Neither KS or Fig can protect you from either eventuality.

I just like screaming at Tony. It's my new hobby. :P

Stop validating the trolls with your shrill-ons, you stealth reptile-o-phile.

But I like being shrill.

lol

As long as you're getting your shrill on, how about putting a link to the campaign in the first post and perhaps changing the title into something more informative?

Was going to suggest same. For posterity, even just [Wasteland 3] at the end would be enough.
Renzatic on 6/10/2016 at 16:35
Alright. I can do that.
