If it is accurate, then EM is definitely failing to make the "social interaction is Garrett's weakness" approach work.
There are probably dozens of ways to have this approach work out well or not or somewhere in the middle. When Steven did his (apparently hallmark) theatrical speech at Cologne, there was nothing hinting at a larger emotional relationship between Garrett and Erin than what would be the minimum between two people working together. One could not help but think of the issue with Viktoria in TMA and IMHO it would be ridiculous to assume Garrett had no compassion whatsoever (just like the assumption that the Keepers would forever stick to their de-humanizing credo, no matter if its de-construction in TDS was well executed or not). However, no real hint was given back then. Plus, I cannot remember having understood that Garrett and Erin met as children/juveniles as this line from the article suggests:
Quote:
In his youth, the child orphan spent his days scurrying around the filthy city streets in search of coin, but instead he found a wayward girl called Erin.

What came next proved to be the real challenge. “It's been an interesting exercise for us
The real challenge for Garrett is actually how hard it is to find a new sponsor other than Eidos. That would be an epic adventure. Even harder then surviving three campaigns before.

Unable to side with her any longer, both the teacher and scholar parted ways, and Garrett entered into a period of isolation and regret. The mysterious thief we now know was truly born on that day
So the thief became miserable long before falling off the building and Erin died? Geez. A thief hides to outsmart the enemy. Now he can hide in isolation and regret too. If the thief DNA is hiding, then any reason to hide is good enough for Eidos. Great job. Not.
I half expect the training mission will move an intoxicated thief around, interpreted with clunky contextual controls and limited movement, so we play the game "properly" *cough*. Mission 1 will cautiously reveal an apartment full of empty alcoholic bottles and pizza boxes, and a thief waking up with a heavy hang over. "Waking up" to finally put down that booze and see the city needs plundering in the next 14 missions. Falling off the building and blackening out for a year is long enough, or is it? The suspense, LoL.

First impressions for me is that NuGarret is a streamlined, mainstream POS.

Huh?
Gallagher, has a warped perspective of what a character is...He views only the name and "character
class" as the constitutional makeup of a character...without any depth, dimension, or personality...Unfortunately, such a superficial and foolish perspective has led to travesty.

Now Spring, it's not about
logic and good story...It's about saying whatever is necessary to appeal to their target market.

Goldmoon Dawn, is that you?
Chade on 14/9/2013 at 12:39
Vae, you really think you invented the "chaos" system? That we couldn't find any prior art if we really wanted to? That Arkane is more likely to have copied your idea rather then independantly come up with it themselves?
Two relevant sayings off the top of my head: ideas are a dime a dozen, and there is nothing new under the sun. Including hubris.
LATE EDIT: The post this replied to has since been deleted.

Dont be jealous Beleg, every once in a while you have good ideas too. Not lately, of course, but Im just sayin'...

Vae, you're insane, GTA has been doing this for years. I'm sure there are other examples too, I just can't think of them at the moment.
And those are some pretty wild and frankly irresponsible accusations you're pointing at Dig there. If by "witness" you mean both of you were active members of the board here, well then you're really reaching.

This is hilarious.
There are no nuts here nope, never.
