I don't know, I do think that Garrett is a fairly extreme character in that way. He's insanely good at sneaking, but he is quite immature in some ways. Greater folly of anger and all that.

oh its all our fault boo woo woo. If only we listened to the great subjective. Oh we should have known!
I've stated what I don't like too, and even started a thread at EM forums about it (a thread that has been in the top 5 most active for a while now because my main beef - contextual movement - is pretty important to people).
I'm just saying there is a difference between constructive criticism and frothing swivel eyed loonism.
Believe me, if the game turns out badly because of stupid choices you'll hear all about the whys and wherefores of my hateful criticism.

Wait one thing if this is a reboot then Garrett never did rob a god surely? Ergo I guess stealing the hook could've been the greatest challenge so far... which is still weird, considering a master thief should really have more under his belt.

*And* considering that they commented on Garretts previous thievery challenges immediately before proclaiming that their NuChallenge is greater than his previous ones! In keeping with the spirit of this "reboot" it does not behoove them to then compare NuThief to the real Thief games.
It makes no sense. It didnt add up then, and it doesnt add up now. They are clearly just winging it, because they thought they could just do whatever they wanted to the series, without first understanding *why* there is such a hardcore following of the series in the first place!

You're just making the same mistake as GD. The challenge has nothing to do with stealth, so "getting caught" simply has nothing to do with Gallagher's statement at all.

Garrett's been challenging himself as a master thief for many years; the bigger the job, the harder the challenge. I think the biggest challenge for him is by taking [Erin's hook] that day, it's put him in a very strange position.
It does have something to do with the statement because Gallagher mentioned all the hard challenges. He means everything about Garrett and the god, Garrett avoiding to get caught, etc. Now all of that is nothing compared to the feeling of guilt so he says.
Gallagher will remain misunderstood. He does not know how to compare challenges and needs more practice.
He will probably introduce the NuChallenge only as a second story arc in cutscenes or QTE for people that like to watch movies.
Or, he will add it to gameplay and force missions to fail or side-track because Garrett is in such turmoil to focus properly on the task at hand.

What are you talking about? This is all back story, it isn't a story arc in the game.
As for "getting caught", I'm finding it hard to figure out what you're saying. It seem like all you're saying is that you find it impossible to imagine a personal issue that could be as difficult as going on a heist and possibly getting killed. That's just ridiculous. Are you denying the existence of people who are amazingly talented at possibly life threatening tasks but struggle with their private lives?
TriangleTooth on 27/8/2013 at 22:47
Actually it would make sense for Garrett to have issues with private life compared with his thieving abilities. Someone who has dedicated all their time to X isn't gonna be great with Y, and for the most part Garrett avoids having too much in his personal life so yeah, if something did come up in it he would probably struggle to handle it. Of course, exactly how something could come up with his attitude is pretty iffy.

So, lets make a game centered around new found melodrama, and forget about the classic first person sneaking thing. Well, looks like some people are in luck, because that is exactly what NuTeam shall be delivering unto us.
SubJeff on 28/8/2013 at 00:32
It is going to be a first person sneaker though. Just not the one we all want.

More like a First Person Swooper.
