There is a definite tendency towards making statements along the lines of 'this game will be the worst thing ever no matter what they do to it' on this forum, however. I wouldn't pay any attention to people who have already declared they are going to hate anything I do.

Indeed, I got the impression that the EM guys are put off because they care about the game (even with the drawbacks from today's market), not because they don't give a damn anyway. The good suggestions that could improve the game for us (at least in the now-called old-school mode) drown in the bitching of people who appear to me like having become parodies of themselves. I'm the last to withdraw from the point that computer games should be complex, challenging and aiming to have the player experience a narrative instead of serving it on a silver plate. But the on-going rants threaten to close the door for communicating with the devs which will be to no one's benefit.
Oh, and Goldmoon Dawn, you might want to re-phrase your reply to Chade. He was talking about the general story arc, not single missions. But anyone could have missed that...

And as Dia has pointed out on plenty of occasions, they werent listening even when they said they wanted our input, and this was a long time ago now. They took a big dump on the real fans years ago, and you guys are worried about the here and now, at the last minute blaming *us* for them not listening, when they never were listening to begin with!!!!
Face it, your beloved little Thief4 shall be an even bigger joke than Deadly, and there is little you, TTLG, or anyone can do about it. :)

They never cared about TTLGs input, even way back when they said they wanted it. This is fact and its on record, cannot be denied even here in the 11th hour. Its all too little too late. Its understandable to try and find someone to blame for the direction NuTeam has taken with the beloved Thief series, but using the original fans as scapegoat is feeble.

Why should a money making company listen to some fans on some site? I think fans overestimate their importance.

Look. They may have asked, but it wouldn't be the first time a money making company wasn't true to their word. They may have meant it back then, but you didn't really buy it, didn't you? Fans are not only overestimating, but naive, too.

Remember that these developers are gamers too, just like you and me. They want to make a game that they can be proud of, and I don't believe that everything that they say about pleasing the fans is 100% BS either. But of course, then there are indeed the money guys, and a lot of compromises (that most likely won't please the "true fans") will have to be made, but I doubt that the game development process is
only about making money.
