I finished DCotE, but only after geting a fan patch that fixed the game breaking bug at the very end (the falling stones that always killed me no matter how fast I ran). I actually liked the game a lot (especially how the health system worked), though obviously it was a flawed gem at best.
I never heard there were more games planed, but if there were... well that sucks indeed.
Check out the Cancelled Sequels section.

If any of you got frustrated with the bugs, then try downloading the Fan patch and Better Graphics patch.

What about the part that makes the game suck shit as soon as you get on the truck?
Muzman on 6/2/2014 at 01:12
There's a couple of bits on the truck aren't there? I seem to remember they're actually pretty early on. I also remember that I got past one essentially via some hilarious glitch.
All the same there is plenty more game after, I think.

The truck ride, to me, is the end of the game.
Haha I remember that, I think that's around the point I gave up actually. Sound like I might have picked the right point then (if our mutual dislike for Torment bs threshold is any indication :p)

There is! The game is pretty long and difficult even on moderate difficulty. Gamefaqs has some tips on getting past the Truck level. It's hard but I think you just got to stay in Stealth mode most of the time and use the Morphine, you will get past it. It Autosaves after that.

Looks like Frictional has decided to up their rates a bit. I believe most of their previous games were around the $20 mark, but SOMA is listed at $30 (with a 10% discount for pre-ordering).
I like these guys plenty enough to shell it out, but I can't help but wonder if the higher price point will hurt them overall with sales. Seems like max you'd see any indie title coming in at these days would be $40, and that's more than likely going to be some type of in-depth RPG.

Frictional made a TON of sales with Overture and Black Plague at $5 for a bundle. Wait a year to 18 months. They'll be blowing it out to get their game in peoples hands.
I'll probably pre-order. I don't think these guys are perfect, but I love who they are and what they do. They deserve it. From me at least.

Reading this thread from the OP makes me realize one thing - I miss dethtoll around here. It may sound weird coming from me because I think the guy hates my guts, but when it comes to just discussing games, he added a ton to this forum.
dt, if you're reading this, and I'm guessing you are, I think you should consider coming back. Forget all about CommChat, ThiefGen, and Members Chat. Put Tony on ignore, and just limit yourself to posting in Gen Gaming. C'mon dude, leave all the noise behind and let's talk some games.
