Ooohh.. That explains that. Is there any purpose to the locked officies? I can't see anything in them through the window, and I don't think theres anything worth 2 lockpicks in there.
You don't have to use any consumables to get in there. :) When you first arrive in UNATCO HQ,
search the false floor in Alex Jacobson's office. Among the various goodies, including a free scope mod, down there, you oughta find a key to the offices. Once you have that, you're good to go. :thumb:

Err.. I hate to ask, but what exactly do you get from opening the airvent in that closet? I can't remember there being any kind of item in there.
I think there are only items in there the first time around, possibly bio-electric cells or ammo. The other closet does get restocked with supply crates, IIRC.

A fully modded stealth pistol by New York!
This isn't Invisible War. Weapons can easily take a dozen mods each.

Really? It works on my version of DX1

The one mod I can't part with is the Scope for my stealth pistol. I actaully cleared out the entire roof section of New York with a single 10mm clip with it. Silence, death and cheap skill point cost.. Can't beat that!

What you've just said doesn't appear to make any sense.

Indeed.
Bluegrime: as ZB says, in DX, weapons can take a shitload of mods: The pistols (stealth and normal) are probably the most moddable:
A scope, a lasersight, five accuracy mods, five recoil mods, five clip mods, five reload mods, and five range mods, for a grand total of 27.
No glass destabilisers, though. :D
Other weapons might not be moddable in certain categories: you can't scope the assault rifle, for instance, or put accuracy mods on the flamethrower (though, admittedly, what would be the point..).
So yeah: eventually, you can have an Uber pistol.
Bluegrime on 3/10/2005 at 00:24
And now I do have an uber pistol.. But where do you find a laser sight mod? I've found accuracy, scope, recoil and reload ones, and modified the living hell out of my steath pistol with them.
I have now decided that rifle is a complete waste when you get silent, accurate and deadly shots from a pistol. But is it really possible to put a silence mod on an assault rifle?

I'm sure you'll find a few laser mods, they're not the least common.
Yes you can put a silencer on an assault rifle.
Rifles aren't a waste, though, as you suggest they are. You would miss the ability to fire high explosive rounds (the assault rifle's alternative-fire), sabot shells to kill mechanical targets like bots, turrets, and cameras (the assault shotgun and sawed-off shotguns' alternative fires), and the ability to shatter some locked doors, turrets, cameras, locked chests, security panels, and other things. You need Master skill level to destroy some of those objects, though.
That's why every skill you choose helps shape your character. Choosing a "bad" character setup almost takes deliberate effort.

I've reached The MJ12\NWO base in Versalife and haven't found one.. I don't need one anyway, the standard crosshair is good enough for me.
I will probably grab rifles next time around, if I don't try the melee only method. The Dragon Tooth has become my weapon of choice for everything short of FBI agents. I suspect I won't be using it on the Grays, due to the radiation damage they dish out just by getting close to you.
