You are done with the game and all side quests finished, so what do you do for fun?
I don't hang around much in Jupiter except for occasional artifact hunting and same goes for Zaton, but as underdeveloped as Pripyat is, I have come to love the hostility over there. During evenings I always head for the service center (where the X8 elevator is) and spend the night there. By the early morning the floors will be covered in merc corpses and hundreds of kgs worth of loot stashed in some remote room on the bottom floor. Truly a goldmine for packrats, you want a fully upgraded exo, two goldfishes and some hercules for those nights.
I wish there was more hostile stalkers in the other two areas. I pretty much only shoot zombies over there.

Take your best sniper rifle, week's worth of food and claim the little secret room on top of vine anomaly.

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/8476/20100422005jupiter.th.jpgI sometimes carry my Tide too (not a big fan of the Lynx though, too good long range, no challenge), or swap out the Eliminator for Zulu's BFG, and of course 2 of each high grade artifact. I get a lot of bubbles but only 3 goldfish... Need one more for the full set.
Anyway loners fight bandits all the time in zaton, I've had some huge wars. Yanov's more boring but does have duty v big mutants like chimera or pseudo giant.
I noticed in freeplay the bodies disappear, but mutant bodies don't. The X8 building's ground floor is littered full of dead rodent, pseudodog, and bloodsuckers. Is this happening to anybody else? Weird.

It happened to me also, I installed a mod to fix it, it makes mutant bodies have the same stay time as human ones. As far as I have read this is a well known bug in the game. I wonder why it was never fixed, it would certainly be a worthy item in the 1.6.03 changelog.
Oh and by the way, I just discovered a funny little trick to get all your stuff from Pripyat to either of the two other areas in just one trip, regardless of the total weight. Grab some stuff from your personal box and drop it right in front of the guide, then repeat this until you have all the stuff you want to take with you. Now stand close to the guide and pick it all up. You won't be able to move (assuming the total exceeds the weight limit) but you can still talk to the guide, so do that and go to Yanov or Skadovsk. When there simply drop the stuff until you can move, go to the trader, sell, then come back and pick up more stuff, sell some more, and repeat. Maybe you have discovered this already but it doesn't hurt to tell. :)
But to be honest I don't know if I should bother using this trick or just install a weight limit mod. Either way is cheating. :erg:

Which faction did you side with at yanov? I'm thinking of playing it one last time, this time unconditionally side with Duty and see if they show up in large numbers in Pripyat. I'm actually a freedomer but I wanna see if there'll be a different medic/mechanic at the Laundromat than Yar.
Monolith only rarely show up in Prometheus theater even though I let their boss live... At least there's a lot of artifact spawning beds. I also caught loners chilling with mercs at the school! The bastards.
And yes I've been getting long lag opening my trunk, think I'll use your trick and get rid of my stock, leave only the essentials like I do my zaton and yanov trunks. Pripyat only has 1 trunk which kinda sucks. I don't really do bodies.
Bjossi on 25/4/2010 at 15:59
That looks like lots of fun. ;) But blowouts aren't all that long, in CoP at least.
@Jashin: I haven't sided with either faction I think. But I did talk to Loki (Freedom leader) to send some guys to the scientists to be a research team.
The only monolith I come across are by the River Port (?) area (and the theater too). I went to River Port recently and fought 6 of them, 2 had powerful sniper rifles and the rest Abakans.
As for lack of storage boxes, I think it sucks too, I missed them from SoC where they would be scattered around. Would be pretty nifty if it was possible to buy such boxes from traders and put them where you want. :p

How about this: Have you found the UAV yet? I sort of stumbled on it by accident. But I was pretty happy with myself for exploring to such an extent. So here is my question with the UAV, after doing the little side mission with this UAV what can you actually do with the black box? Rather than selling it... Is there like another mission for it?
mothra on 21/5/2010 at 13:15
you mean the UAV in the first map ? which I found around 2hours in on my first playthrough ? I usually do exploring in open world games if the world provided is of interest. Which it is in COP :) it's the main thing. I don't like to have everything told. And no, there is no gamechanging thing about the BlackBox. I think you can talk to Strelok about it.
Axon1988 on 21/5/2010 at 18:18
Damn names being scratched out, but I think I know who you mean. I did go and talk to a bunch of guys. I don't remember it being in the first map. I found one in Jupiter... Nice of them to add some UAV's to the game. Makes you think now who send this in? So the Americans are behind this, AGAIN?
You know how they are basically in every game, news channel, magazine and any other form of media these days.
So the other thing I thought would be nice to do after I finished the game and all the side quests is maybe just try and play around with some .ltx files. I know this isn't really part of the game or whatever, but it can make for a interesting game. I hope.
EDIT
@Jashin: Dude! You have the eliminator shotgun in your inventory with a scope attached! That reminds me, did you guys see all the different kinds of scopes you get now? Even a heat vision one! For both scope types, pretty decent if you ask me.
