Hello, I've been having trouble with this quest for a while now and I can't figure out what to do. I went to Mebestein Ence's Tradehouse to steal the "Rare Dwemer Artifact" but there isn't one ANYWHERE. I searched the little chest on the top shelf and it is empty. I've killed the trader and the guard and there's nothing like that on them. I just don't know what I'm looking for. Is there another artifact somewhere that will work for this quest or am I screwed? Thanks for any help.

I did. I've looked in every crate, bag, box, chest, pocket, and shelf in the whole tradehouse. I may have stolen it before I got the quest, but I don't think so. If I knew what I was looking for, I may be able to find it or another one, hopefully.

The only other thing I can think of...is...you payed your bounty to the guards and they took everything you stole, including the artifact as "evidence", then stuck it in the evidence footlocker in the castle. Hopefully you payed the bounty in that city or you are screwed. You'll have to remember where you payed the bounty or have someone tell you what the artifact was so you can get it from a Dwemer ruin. I'm sorry to say, I don't remember exactly which artifact he was holding. Good luck and I hope your sneak level is high enough to search the evidence locker.

I've already checked the evidence boxes of all the cities I've been to and turned up nothing important-sounding. I also went to some Dwemwer Ruins and took a little of everything, but none of it was the right thing. I have an Xbox, so I just can't open up the editor and find out what I'm looking for, but maybe someone on here can :idea: Thanks again!!

It might have been a Dwemer Cylinder, not a tube. I checked, and I know I kept one at my stronghold, but I'm not sure if I kept the correct artifact or not, I may have sold it, but it is a start. Hopefully someone can confirm it or give you the right answer. :)

I looked in the editor and there are no dwemer artifacts listed for that building.
I never did the quest myself so I couldn't really investigate it further... maybe a little more info would help, like what the quest is for, etc

It's a quest from Sugar-Lips in the Thieves Guild in Balmora ( I think it's Balmora). It's the 2nd or 3rd, maybe 4th quest he gives you. I'm supposed to go get a Dwemer Artifact from Mebestein Ence's Tradehouse and show it to an Orc guard in the castle to blackmail him into letting a fellow thief out of jail. The Orcs name is Shalag mor-bak or something like that and he's taking bribes from Mebestein Ence to keep the traders illegal Dwemer artifact smuggling under wraps.

OK found it.
It's in the small chest on the shelf in the 2nd story of his shop. It should be a Dwemer Coherer.
If it has somehow disappeared, then you can find one in Heaven's Gallery Room in Arkgthand near Balmora. It's a large object that weighs 40 and looks like a drum sort of.
There is also one in Sorkvild's Tower in Dagon Fel.
It's possible the graphic is corrupt but try to get it out of the small chest even if you don't see it there.

Thank you!!! I will try to find one in those places. I've been to the ruin and that's where I grabbed one of anything I could see, but I didn't find a Cohrer. So, I will go to Dagon Fel. Thanks again!!:thumb:
