Here are some oldies for you:
(
http://www.adeptsoftware.com/got/) God of Thunder
This is a neat three-part game that began as shareware back in the day and was released as freeware not too long ago. You play as Thor, the thunder god, searching the land to find and destroy your evil brother Loki, the god of mischief, and his two cronies Jormangund and Nognir.
It's quite fun, really. You throw your hammer at enemies to kill them and also use it to solve some of the puzzles blocking your way. Gameplay is fun and interesting, and most puzzles actually require you to
think.
Speaking of thinking:
(
http://www.thefoolsgold.com/downloads/index.htm) The Fool's Errand, etc. Here you'll find Cliff Johnson's old games including The Fool's Errand, 3 for Three, and many others, all free. I won't describe them all (I've only played Fool and 3 so far, actually), but they're definitely worth checking out if you like puzzle games.

"Welcome to the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab, a collaboration between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the government of Singapore created to explore new directions for the development of games as a medium. GAMBIT sets itself apart by emphasizing the creation of video game prototypes to demonstrate our research as a complement to traditional academic publishing."

I'm not sure how legit this is, or how long it'll last, but Savvy Gamer's spotted a deal on a Polish site offering (
http://savygamer.co.uk/2009/09/sins-of-solar-empire-free.html) Sins of a Solar Empire for free. It worked for me. The site often posts free codes for games that it features on its magazine's cover disc, so it may be the case again. I can't figure out where the codes for (
http://www.cdaction.pl/seriale/) the other games available work, though, if at all they are for the digital distribution systems.

They're out of Sins serials. :( But I've seen it, also with expansion(s) at WalMart for $20.

All the indie blogs seem to have come out with the announcement at once, so either it's a damn coup or a decent enough game: (

Not related in any way with clothing brand FCUK (thank god), or the quick freebie Space Fuck.
