Actually the graphics were upped as well for Windows version.
Original 1995 DOS C&C had resolution only 320x200 in VGA.

I think OpenTTD should be up there. It's an open-source version of Transport tycoon deluxe, and it runs on XP with no stuffing around! To install, you need the original game files, which can be found (http://www.owenrudge.net/download/download?t=1&id=129) here. The installer is (http://www.openttd.org/downloads.php) here.
