I probably spent 2 hours with this today. It's fun. You can skate on your own, but if there's other people online you'll play with them.

That looks quite fun.

I am bothered by the lack of distinction between obstacle and not-obstacle.
henke on 8/11/2021 at 06:26
Eh, I never really had a problem with that, tho that's also maybe because I'd seen videos of it before playing. Anyway bumps, tables, and houses are obstacles.

The name is a kind of dumb riff off of the old game Skate or Die! which IIRC also had an obstacle course like downhill part. I don't know if everyone already figured that or I should announce it for the kids, but anyway, there it is.

Surely that would be "Ski or Die" unless there was more than one game with similar naming.

No there were definitely Skate or Die games, 2 of them even. I played em on Amiga and C64. Never heard of Ski Or Die tho.
edit: looking at it now it seems Ski was a follow up to Skate, and it looks very similar, Rodney Dangerfield in the skishop and everything. These things were made by EA! Huh!

Ski or Die! is basically a slightly reskinned version of Skate or Die! released by the same developers. At the time the gaming press mostly saw Ski or Die! as a fun but somewhat low effort sequel to Skate or Die!

Not sure for how long, but Outcast 1.1 is free on GOG: (

This is the original, fixed up a bit to work on modern systems and at higher resolutions. There's also a remaster out called Second Contact. Play either one, they're great!
