(
www.gog.com) gog.com is giving away
Wasteland 2 for the next 46 hours.
Seems like I missed the Rayman Legends giveaway on Epic Games, but
Jotun Valhalla Edition is available for free for a couple more hours! (until Dec 12th 5:59PM)
After that it's
The Escapists for the next week.

Apparently in NZ das ist verboten. Classed as Objectionable. So technically not allowed.

Giving away brand new games seems like a terrible business model, how would the creators make any money like that?
They are on sale and Epic are doing that "€10 off voucher" thing again, though.

The creators get a bigger cut of sales from Epic compared to Steam, and Epic (apparently) pays for the games it gives away, and the money came from the obscene gobs of money they made off of Fortnite. So there you go.

The publisher still has to accept their game being part of the giveaway. And some publishers are very much against giving away high profile titles for free, especially less than a half a year after the release.

I don't think that's quite how it works.
We don't know about the games as such, but for their free UE4 Marketplace giveaways, they pay a set amount to the creator to be able to give it away. It's not as if they pay an amount based on how many copies are actually claimed.
I'd imagine it only makes sense when that lump sum is more than the devs are likely to earn with the product on its own for a while, which is why they're mostly giving away older games that have sold most of their copies already.
Also, yes, the thing about once a game has been free, it devalues it a bit and people won't want to buy it for full price any more.
