Free program for creating a DVD video from a movie on your hard drive? - by operaghost

I tried Sothink DVD creator, which is free (except but a quick splash screen and the beginning saying "pay for me to not get this screen," big deal though) but there's a lag between the sound and action. I tried another "free" program, that tells you AFTER wasting a 8.5GB DVD that you can only burn 5 minutes of the movie unless you buy it. Any that are decent? The one requirement though is to be able to choose between PAL and NTSC, most people where I live now have PAL TVs.

(
http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php) DVD Flick is a bit basic, but it's free and allows you to choose between PAL and NTSC so it's possibly worth a shot.
(Plus, it has an in-built tetris game for you to play while waiting for the DVD to encode :))

I use (
http://www.dvdstyler.org/en/) DVDStyler. It also has the PAL/NTSC option. It saves the layout/frame options in xml format, so you can edit them with a text editor. I've never needed to do that, but if you had to do a mass find & replace it would come in handy (e.g. you moved a load of movie files and you wanted to update the frame properties).
There is one quirk, however. At the end of the burn process it always says 'Failed', even when it has been successful. Don't let it mess with your head.
