Last night I drove through the heaviest rain I've ever seen in winter. Today it's continuing, with temperatures of 9C and 20-25mm of rain predicted for the next 24 hours.
In Ottawa, Canada. In January. It should be -15C right now.
Back in late Nov / early Dec we had an extremely cold snap. Very uncharacteristic for that time of year. And I heard approximately a million people say "Hyuh hyuh hyuh, so much for global warming, eh? Lookit how cold it is! Hyuh!" I wonder where they are now. I'd hate to accuse such individuals of inconsistent logic, so obviously if a localized cold snap disproves global warming, an unseasonably warm spell must prove it beyond doubt. At least now they'll be convinced! :thumb:

I live in Montreal and... well... It's not that I don't love winter... but I must say I kind of like the temperature we are having right now. I went running today and it was great. It's sad that some people have to suffer because of climate change, but the truth is for us (Canadian) it's pretty much a good change. Our agriculture will become more profitable, we won't need to heat as much during winter (my total electricity consumption during winter is going down year after year) and best of all, we have a lot of water we'll be able to sell to the US (they'll need it for their own agriculture). So not only we have oil, but we also have what will become the second most valuable resource! Go Canada!
More seriously, this kind of warm period during winter is not that exceptional. I remember a year in the early 80s when we also had some exceptionally high temperature in February for a few days. The only difference is since the end of the 90s we have those temperatures every year and they last longer.
Edit : Actually the only thing I found really weird was the short thunderstorm we had a the end of December. They talked about it on the evening news and some guy explained why it happened, but... Well, it was weird.
