Well, unless you're planning on killing Thief13x, you're probably wrong. Unless we start taking large steps soon, the shit's going to hit the fan well within our lifetime.
This is no longer a hazy-from-distance scenario. We've got front row seats for the fireworks.

I'm talking about his teacher.

Someone page me as soon as Jesus or Iron Maiden starts to feature heavily in this thread. It's New Years and I can't be arsed to check back in every 15 minutes.

So, Dia....Zion area, eh? Happy birthday, BTW!
I remember when I was in 3rd and 4th grade, 95-97, the last time I had a reason for a snow day. Sub zero temperatures with wind chills reaching 30 below and snow drifts that you could make caves in (well they kinda caved in, but just for show...). 9 years went by before my last one, December 1, 2006. I remember it like it was yesterday.....*sigh* my area got about 9" of snow the night of 30th/1st. Most people would shrug it off as just another snow storm, but, mind you, this is like a completely unexpected and unwanted miracle and
EVERYTHING shut down that morning.

Lots of things can cause global warming like increased solar activity, volcanoes, meteors, changes in the Earth's orbit, comet tails seeding the earth with water and CO2, termite farts, cows burping, methane gas belching out of the soil and water and good old CO2. Whether natural or from human activity the fact remains that when the climate changed in the past, times were tough for living things. I for one do not want to dance around this issue hoping that this undeniable data is incorrect. So if we can reduce what humans contribute to GW gas emissions so we do not get to that point where extinction is a real possibility then I'll do my part.
But my local warming is not happening and currently it is cold with a winter storm warning this New Years eve. :(

Wadsworth, actually. (And thanks for the b'day wish!) Then you'll understand how much snow we actually have to get before the schools around here call a snow day. Snow day = A Mother's Bane.
We just got another 5-6 inches of the white stuff last night, but it'll all be gone by Sunday night since it looks like the temps are going to rise into the 40's & 50's. Nothing like Midwest weather to keep you on your toes.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Like Dia said, it'll all melt by Saturday.
