Ok something is seriously f-d up right now. For the past couple weeks, the Midwest US region has been experiencing something I like to call "Illinois Weather."
It started about 5 or 6 years ago - the Pre-Christmas thaw, where it goes from about 20°F on December 15 to 50° by the 23rd. And on top of that, it seems to be getting warmer at NIGHT. Today, for instance, around 1:30 it was maybe 25° outside. It's now just past 7:15 and the temp is now 34°.
Where I live in Illinois (about 35 minutes SW of Chicago) has probably the most (un)predictable weather in the whole state. It seems that there's a bubble around my town that deflects any "normal" weather patterns. For instance, during the spring and summer, the stormy season, we rarely get any rain here. 5 miles in any direction, there could be tornadoes and 85mph winds and basketball-sized hail, but not here. This "bubble" thing deflects even the world's worst squall lines! No, the only thing I get here is overcast skies. (I just need blue skies for 2 hours to try out my new camera filters)
And to think...I'm shooting to become a USAF meteorologist:tsktsk:

and the first thing you will learn about weather is that the only constant is change....I took aviation meteorology, good luck with that stuff, good class but the stuff for met majors is a little over my head, and most of theirs. The guy that taught it was a retired 30 year airforce captain, had 2 phd's and a masters degree, and was the biggest 60 yr old alchoholic i've ever met...and the coolest at that! really outspoken about his hatred towards the idea of global warming being caused primarily by humans, with alot of science to back it up.good luck:thumb:

My parents came over from grey-skied, rainy Scotland to sub-tropical Brisbane for our typical Christmas heatwave and instead got a lashing by a cyclone off the coast that leaves our usually blue-skied sunny days resembling a bad day on Sauchiehall Street.

I live about 35 miles due north of Chicago and there've been years when we've experienced the same sort of non-weather, atari. Complicating everything is the fact that I live about 6 mi. west of Lake Michigan, so we get a lot of lake-effect crap too. Or the lake effectively deflects the crap and we end up getting seriously unseasonal weather at the damndest times.
Welcome to the Midwest. :(
We almost had a white Christmas this year; missed it by a day.

That's nearly Wisconsin. I've likely stood on the same pebbly beach. We may have played the same put put golf. Small world. Wind off the lake is damn cold in winter.
Laugh now AR master but I remember real weather. This aint it. Sure the south will feel it first but you wait. I PREDICT VOLCANOES AND DINOSAURS.

Not even 2 mi. from Wisconsin's state line. So; you've been to Congo River, then? :cheeky:
And you're right, Michigan's gales can deep-freeze you in a heartbeat. As Stitch once said, that's why Northern Midwesterners talk funny: it's always so damn cold up here.

Scientific facts do not lie, but it's easy to pick up the facts we like and put them out of context so we can prove whatever we want. Being intelligent does not mean knowing everything, or being always right, and certainly does not mean being
honest.
As about EVERY FUCKING CLIMATOLOGISTS say that global warming is real and caused (at least mainly) by humans, I do think I can safely assume that an air force captain who says the opposite is either too full of himself to have an intelligent opinion or is simply lying because he wants to protect some personal interests.

My family is from Grand Rapids Michigan. I hear this every year now. They just don't get the winters like they used to. Snow used to last and stay on the ground for months, not anymore.
I've got a picture of me when I was a kid of snow just under my hips, I haven't seen that in years.
Something is going on, we can't ignore it. Some of this may be natural, other is our own doing, our own demise eventually. People can scoff and laugh, I don't find it funny. We need to do something about it, google has jumped on the green band wagon, should be interesting to see what they come up with. They have the money, and the resources to do something, and with zero debt under their belt. They could do it. Now it's hip to be green. Bout time.

The most unfortunate part is that this swine is not likely to live long enough to see the worst of where the brick-headeness of him and his friends will lead us.
