I'm still trying to get my head around Thief controls in Win7 - no doubt I'll figure out something to use instead of the F keys in due course. But Fraps is a real problem. I used it all the time in XP when testing fan missions but it's abysmal with Win7.
I really need to have something like it and wonder if anyone has any suggestions for something that does work with Win7 without interfering with the game or any workaround that might let me use it as per usual in Win7. Onscreen text doesn't show if it's running so I keep reporting missing text and haven't a clue if my quicksave has worked or not! Everything's taking a very long time.

You say that the Thief-controls are different for you on Win 7 ?
For me all is it used to be before - and for sure Windows should not have any effect here.
I can use all the F-keys without any restrictions.
EDIT:
Some keyboards/notebooks have a special key in order to modify the behaviour of the function-keys.
Try pushing it and the function-keys should work normally again.
(On my keyboard it is labelled 'Fx' and is located to the right of F12. On some notebooks I think it is located at the bottom left or right to 'space')

I don't use Fraps that much. But v 3.4.7 (the free versions with length-restrictions on movies) works out-of-the-box for me.
On-Screen text works and I can even record movies.
For sure I have not even spent one second in order to make it work.
If Onscreen-Text and F-keys don't work well for you, then I suspect the problem somewhere else... but I must admit: I don't know what that might be.

I'm not one to make videos so my experience with Fraps is limited. I found an alternative that works well on my low end machine. Very easy to use and free version can record up to 10 minutes, no restriction in bitrate, screen size or codec choice. A watermark is always present in free version, paid removes it.

Thanks guys. I must admit I haven't investigated whether there's a way to modify the behaviour of the F keys. I don't have an Fx though. I'll check out the manual. :o
I'll also look at that Bandicam programme. I don't often need videos and certainly not of any length, but sometimes it's a whole heap easier to video some buggy thing going on than try and explain it.
Thanks for your help. :)
