I can't make that stupid download work (and I thought Megaupload was annoying), but I've never had a problem with a dark engine game. This is probably something to do with the fraps codec. About the only thing I can think to do is reinstall fraps and try playing it again.
-edit- hahah I thought this all seemed familiar. I really should have followed that link first. Sorry.
I did finally get the file and all it is is a whole lot of black frames with the fraps watermark at the top, and sound of course. Peculiar.

Thats because I was seeing if fraps trial worked but its the same as the regular one but this has never happened on Thief Gold(which I can't even play anymore) Heres a link to a youtube video I made with fraps (

Aren't TG and T2 similar? One just has 32 bit color instead of 16 or whatever

It shouldn't make any difference. As far as I know fraps captures the outstream of whatever is handling the rendering (could be wrong). What about other games?

I couldn't even get FRAPS to do anything other than show me framerates. I'd click on buttons and nothing would happen.:(

Well it doesn't work for Starcraft, and GTA San Andreas either , thats the only other ones because it works with Unreal Tournament, UT2004, Warcraft III, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Guild Wars

The T2X commentaries were done using Fraps without any issue (other than things like books, cutscenes, and whatnot not recording), though that was recorded using the full licensed version. I cannot see how that would make a difference though, so maybe something else is causing issues? Um, yeah, great help huh.

Could you tell me some other game recorders to use instead?

There's (
http://taksi.sourceforge.net/) Taksi, but I know for sure it doesn't work in T2. Perhaps if they ever added support for older DirectX versions.
