That story is a month old hat already, but anyway... Something like that should embarrass the IPCC and push it to make a humiliating back-track. But then that's the whole point. Bad science is an embarrassment and any group that accepts it should stop that shit. This story is the lapse that proves the norm. Nobody claims the IPCC is the voice of God, only that it has checks in place so that decisions are made by sound science and bad science gets the boot if it (inevitably) worms its way in. This isn't the system falling apart, it's the system correctly doing what it's supposed to.

I don't think this is the "system" correcting itself. If that was the case, the IPCC would keep correcting and improving itself. I think the whole core of the discussions of the last few months is the fact that the IPCC exactly does *not* have a system of self-correction. The IPCC seems to have a set goal, and they work towards that goal. That is what people are objecting to. All the corrections now are coming from outside the IPCC.
My personal stance in this thread is not whether the world is warming up or not. I don't know. My issue is that the scientific process is not scientific enough. And way too much political. By kicking the legs out under the IPCC, hopefully some other organization, or other people inside the IPCC, can do more objective research.

Serious scientists who base their work on actual data predicted that mini ice-age people were absolutely terrified about 30 years ago, guess it wasn't as corrupted at the time. Or the Berlin wall was still there, that much more likely. It;s not science it's socialism, we call them watermelons, green on the outside, deeply red in the inside.
