Considering the frauds and popular delusions throughout history and how many patterns the anthropogenic global warming movement has in common with them (propaganda, ostracism, shady corporate business, raw data not publicly available, etc), I have no problem believing that it's just another form of eschatology.
Environmentalist Rapture has always been ten years in the future. Ten years being long enough that the prediction will be forgotten, but close enough to make people uncomfortable. I was reminded of this most recently a few days ago when some prominent group or another announced that we have ten years to change before catastrophe is unavoidable.
I believe that the only catastrophe that will befall us is the uncounted trillions lost to fraudsters and profiteers.

Phew, for a moment there I thought you said all those things in brackets were attributable to climate science! I had to blink. Still propaganda is a bit of a cheap shot since everyone does that, so I can't blame the Neocons for talking.
